Alliance Announces Coaches and Teams for 2008-2009 Season...
The Alliance Youth Hockey Association is pleased and excited to announce our teams and coaches for the upcoming 2008-2009 season. Profiles for new coaches will be added as they are available.
Teams
Tier I - AAA
For the first time since the 2003-2004 season, Alliance will not field any Tier I/AAA teams. During the 4 seasons that Alliance fielded Tier I/AAA teams, those Bulldogs teams won 3 Rocky Mountain District Championships and advanced to 3 USA Hockey National Championships, one bringing home a Bronze Medal.
Starting with the 2008-2009 season, Alliance will work closely with the Dallas Stars AAA Hockey program to move our Tier II players to that program when they are ready to compete at that level, joining many former Bulldog players that will be playing for that program. For information about the Dallas Stars AAA Hockey program, click HERE...
Tier II AA/A
The staple of our program since its inception in 2001, our AA/A teams will compete for the NTXHL Championships at their respective age levels, as well as for the Tier II State, Regional, and National Championships. Many current and former Alliance players that have moved on to the Tier I/AAA level and higher began their Bulldog careers on one of our Tier II AA/A teams.
In the 7-year history of Alliance, Tier II Bulldog teams have been to 4 USA Hockey National Championships, won 2 Bronze Medals, captured 4 Rocky Mountain District Championships, won 10 Texas State Championships, and brought home 13 League Championships. Following the move of our former Tier I program to the Dallas Stars AAA, Alliance will re-focus our complete attention to the development of Tier II players, and prepare them to compete at the Tier I/AAA level if and when they are ready and willing.
Coaches
With the renewed focus on Tier II hockey only, the Alliance Hockey Association brought back into the fold the very well respected and nationally recognized Cosmo Clarke as our new Director of Coaches. Under Cosmo's leadership, the coaching staff of Alliance has been filled with experienced and knowledgeable staff to further the development of youth players to the highest level they wish to achieve.

A native of Apple Valley, MN, Steve basically grew up in hockey skates. Learning to skate at a very young age and having ice to skate on in the back yard 4+ months a year helped not only develop dynamic skating ability, but also an extreme passion for the game of hockey.
After a fulfilling playing career, Steve has been giving back to the game for the past 6 years teaching lessons, camps, and coaching teams. Steve’s main focus is working with players that are at the top of their age level.
His intense and passionate way of teaching is truly meant for players that have a strong desire to be pushed out of their comfort zone to become the best player they can be.
Strengths as an instructor:
1. Demonstration (skating, passing, stick handling, 1v1 moves, scoring, defensive techniques, etc.)
2. Verbal correction and instruction
3. Drill Creativity

Peter Wood |
14U Bantam AAA (2007-2008) |
Alliance has added a new face to our staff this season, new 14U Bantam
AAA Head Coach Peter Wood. A picture of Peter will posted as soon as it is
available.
Peter is a native of Toronto, Ontario and comes to Alliance with a wealth of hockey knowledge. He has been a professional player development coach for 18 years and works with players from local youth leagues all the way through to the NHL!
Peter’s coaching philosophy is based around structure and discipline. He believes that in order to make a player better they must first learn the 3 “W’s” of the game. If a player develops a fundamental understanding of when, where and why things happen on the ice, they will become a more complete player and are better equipped to contribute to their team.
Peter also believes that hockey is a great vehicle for student / athletes to learn the value of physical fitness, self esteem, leadership and team work. These are the key ingredients for success not only on the ice, but also in life!
