Saturday, March 12, 2005 Update from Regionals...
Tier II Semi-Finals:
U14: Final Score.....Bantam AA - 1, Chandler Polar Bears - 5 (Semi-Finals): The Bulldogs found themselves behind early and spent the rest of the game trying to play catch-up, but to no avail as they bow out of the RMD Championships in the Semi-Finals late Saturday night. Falling behind 2-0 after the 1st period and then 4-0 after the 2nd, the 'Dogs were never able to muster the game they had against the Polar Bears earlier in the day. They end a great season with an impressive 33-19-6 record.
Tier II Pool Games:
U14: Final Score.....Bantam AA - 3, Chandler Polar Bears - 0: The Bulldogs played their best game of the tournament thus far, and the shutout win earned them a spot in the Semi-Finals against these same Jr. Polar Bears later tonight. Tight defense, good goaltending, and timely scoring was the order of the day in this victory over the host team.
Friday, March 11, 2005 Update from Regionals...
Tier II Games:
U14: Final Score....Bantam AA - 0, VOSHA Mustangs - 5: By all definitions, a Mustang is bigger and faster than a Bulldog, and today that rang true, as the team from the Valley of the Sun raced past the overmatched Bulldogs. Using their size and speed, the Mustangs jumped out to an early lead and cruised to the win in Game 2. VOSHA has now scored 15 goals and allowed none in their 2 games in the tournament. The Bulldogs come back against the Host Jr. Polar Bears on Saturday for a chance to earn a semi-final berth.
Thursday, March 10, 2005 Update from Regionals...
Tier II Games:
U14: Final Score.... Bantam AA - 12, Utah Grizzlies - 2: The Bulldogs scored early and often in this Game 1 win over the Utah State Champions. Alliance used their speed and quickness to pepper the Grizzlie goalie with shot after shot and won going away. The Bulldogs will return on Friday to face the tough VOSHA Mustangs of Phoenix in Game 2.
Sunday, March 6, 2005 - Texoma Championships
Alliance Bantam AA Falls in Texoma Championship Game
Bantam AA: Wild 4, Alliance 2: The Bulldogs could not repeat their victory in Game 1, and fell to the boys from Houston in the Championship Game of the Texoma Playoffs in Oklahoma City on Sunday morning. In trying to get another banner to go along with their State Championship, the Bulldogs went 3 and 0 on the weekend before falling in the finals. Alliance had the lead twice in the game, once at 1-0, and then again at 2-1 early in the 3rd period, but the Wild would turn it up a notch, and get the game winner with just over 6 minutes remaining in the game. They would add an empty netter for the final 2-goal margin. The Bulldogs won't be thinking about this one for long, as they hit the road on Wednesday for the USA Hockey Rocky Mountain District Championships in Phoenix, Arizona March 10th through 13th.
Sunday, February 13, 2005 - Texas Tier II State Championships
Alliance Teams Win 3 State Championships!!! Bulldogs Successfully Defend U14, U16, and U18 Titles....
Bantam AA: Alliance 3, Ice Jets 2: The Bulldogs continued their excellent play from the game earlier in the day, took a 3-1 lead in the 3rd period, and hung on to win the State Championship at the U14 Tier II State Tournament in Valley Ranch Sunday afternoon. After the Ice Jets scored late to make it 3-2 Bulldogs, an apparent tying goal was waved off at 8 seconds remaining due to the use of a high stick to knock the puck into the net. The game was intense, and met all expectations of being a high-paced and energetic battle between the 2 emerging rivals. Alliance has thus earned the right to advance to the Rocky Mountain District Championships in Peoria, Arizona (Phoenix) March 9th through 13th.
Bantam AA: Alliance 5, Wild 2: The Bulldogs saved their best game against the boys from Houston for when it counted the most, and earned a spot in the Finals of the U14 Tier II State Tournament in Valley Ranch. Coming into this game, the Bulldogs had only 1 win in 4 tries against the Wild this season, and most thought they would not be able to overcome them to reach the Championship game. Fortunately, it's not what most think, but what the players think, and they definitely played like they expected to win. Their reward is a rematch at 12:45 in Valley Ranch against the Ice Jets for the right to advance to the Rocky Mountain District Championships. The Saturday night game, a 2-1 win for the Jets, has set the stage for what should be a barn-burner Sunday afternoon.

Bantam AA - Alliance 5, Storm 0: The Alliance Bantam AA team will played a rare Monday night tilt tonight, as they faced the Dallas Storm in Texoma action in Frisco. The Bulldogs controlled entire game, although the Storm managed to keep them off the scoreboard in the 1st period, despite 10 shots on goal by the Bulldogs.
Alliance managed to finally penetrate the Storm defense and goalie with a goal in the 2nd period, and carried only a 1-0 lead into the 3rd frame. The Storm goalie kept them in it until the 3rd period, but the Bulldogs finally found a way to solve the netminder. The Bulldogs just wore them down with 18 shots in the final period, with 4 of the shots finding the back of the net for the 5-0 shutout win. Alliance won the shot battle 34 to 19 and improved their Texoma record to 8-4-1 and to 23-15-5 for the season overall. The Bulldogs will next hit the ice in Texoma action February 5-6 for their final 3 league games.
Saturday, January 15, 2005
Bantam AA - Las Vegas 7, Alliance 0: The Bulldogs ran into a buzz-saw opponent today, and were not ready for it as they dropped this one in uncharacteristic fashion by getting shutout by the Outlaws. Nothing went right for Alliance, and they hope to recover with a better showing in the later game today against the Northstars. Wednesday, January 12, 2005 Bantam AA - Alliance 3, DJHA 1: The Bantam AA team exhibition game against the Penguins took on a whole new meaning this time, as DJHA was playing their first game since Head Coach Dan Hess had passed away on January 1st. The Alliance Bulldogs showed their respect for Coach Dan and the DJHA players by wearing yellow arm bands in his memory. The arm bands had the inscription “Friendship & Support, DJHA & Alliance”. After the traditional post-game handshake, each Bulldog player gave his armband to a Penguin player. The game itself was won by the ‘Dogs on the strength of 2 power play goals. DJHA controlled the early part of the 1st period, but got nothing for their efforts, and Alliance brought the game back into the DJHA half of the ice the last part of the period, which ended at 0-0. DJHA struck first for the 1-0 lead just over a minute into the 2nd period, as several rebounds were left in front of the Bulldog net, and a Penguin being the last to get their stick on it for the goal. Alliance responded quickly, when about 3 minutes later they tied it up with an even strength goal. They followed that up with their first man advantage goal just a couple of minutes later for the lead they would not relinquish. The Bulldogs added an insurance goal on the power play with less than 5 minutes remaining in the 3rd period. The Bulldogs hit the road this weekend for a tournament in Phoenix, where they will face some tough competition from the western part of the country, including the Las Vegas Outlaws and the Jr. Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. Friday, December 17, 2004 WEEKEND coming up: The Bantam AA team will be playing Paintball on Sunday from 10:00am to 1:00pm at the Paintball Factory. To get there, go north on Jupiter off 635 (LBJ) in Garland. www.thepaintballfactory.com Sunday, December 12, 2004 Bantam AA - Alliance 7, Oklahoma 2: The Bantam AA team started strong, and kept the pressure on the entire game, scoring 2 goals in each of the first 2 periods, and added 3 more in the 3rd for a 7-2 Texoma victory over the Oklahoma Sooners at the StarCenter in Plano on Sunday morning. Bantam AA - Alliance 6, Lone Star Wolves 4: The Bantam AA team kept the momentum up from their Oklahoma game and started strong again with 3 goals in the 1st period, and then played the Wolves even the rest of the way for a 6-4 Texoma victory at the StarCenter PSA Sunday. The Bulldogs made it a 3 game sweep in league play for the weekend and raised their league mark to 7-4-1, moving them closer to the top of the Bantam AA Division of the Texoma League. Saturday, December 11, 2004 Bantam AA - Alliance 8, Storm 2: The Bantam AA team started slow, but poured it on in the 2nd period with 4 goals and cruised to a 8-2 Texoma victory over the Dallas Storm at the Ice Training Center Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs raised their league mark to above .500 at 5-4-1, and dropped the Storm to an even 2-2-1. Playing without a couple of players due to injury, the Bulldogs lost 2 more during the game to create a short bench. Alliance did not slow down much after that big 2nd period though, as they added 3 more goals in the 3rd to go with the one they got in the 1st. The Storm scored both their goals in the 2nd period, one on the powerplay. Shots were 28-20 in favor of Alliance, and the Bulldogs struck pay dirt 2 times on the man advantage. The Bulldogs also improved their season record to 19-11-4. It's back to action for Alliance on Sunday, as they have 2 more Texoma games against Oklahoma City and the Lone Star Wolves. Friday, December 10, 2004 The Bantam AA team will be traveling to 3 different rinks for their Texoma games this weekend against the Storm (Saturday, Ice Training Center @ 11:30 am), Oklahoma City (Sunday, Plano StarCenter @ 8:15am), and Lone Star Wolves (Sunday, PSA @ 11:30am). The Bulldogs are in the thick of the race in the Texoma Bantam AA Division with a 4-4-1 league mark, and an overall record of 18-11-4 for the season thus far. OKC is just barely ahead of Alliance with a 5-4-1 Texoma record, and the Storm is just getting going into league play at 2-1-1. The Bulldogs are coming off a weekend with 2 games against the very tough Houston Wild, but ended with a 4-3 victory for the split of the series. Sunday, November 28, 2004 Tournament: Bantam AA's Win Littleton AA 33rd Annual Thanksgiving Tournament. The Bulldogs defeated San Jose 6-1, Northern Colorado 3-1, Kansas City 6-1, and tied Denver University 1-1 in the seeding round. They defeated Gallatin Valley 4-2 in the semi's and Littleton Hawks 3-1 in the finals to go undefeated and bring home the ship.
The Littleton Thanksgiving Tournament is consistently one of the toughest AA tournaments in the western US each year, with lots of games against good competition. After many Alliance teams competing at all levels in this prestigious tournament for several years, the Bantam AA team becomes the first Alliance team to win the championship.
