DJHA - 4, Alliance - 2:  The Bulldogs and DJHA Major '95 resumed their 3-game battle for one final time Sunday afternoon in Frisco, with DJHA opening up a 2-0 gap in the 2nd period that the Bulldogs could not quite close in the Championship Game of the NTXHL Championship Series

After the Bulldogs would narrow the margin to within one 2 different times, the Penguins responded each time within a minute to widen the lead back to a 2 goals.  Alliance peppered the Penguin goalie all afternoon, but he was up to the task when it counted, and DJHA takes home the NTXHL crown.  The Bulldogs complete an awesome season with a 32-12-3 record.

Sunday, January 22, 2006    Bulldogs Back in League Action with a Win...

Alliance - 5, Stars Select - 3:   Today's NTXHL game in Valley Ranch was a physical battle for both teams, with the Bulldogs coming away with the win over the Stars Select Major.  The Stars accumulated 12 penalties and Alliance had 8 to make it a special teams affair.  Alliance started the scoring in the 1st with a power play goal at the 1:53 mark to take a 1-0 lead.

The Stars came back to tie the game early in  the 2nd with a goal at 11:27 to make it 1-1Alliance added two more goals in the 2nd period at 7:27 and 2:47 to wrap up the second and take a 3-1 lead into the final period of play.  In the 3rd frame, all scoring would take place by special teams.  The Bulldogs scored, but had the goal waived off because of a penalty.  The Stars took advantage and scored at the 10:08 mark to close the gap to one at 3-2.   The Stars quickly found themselves back in the penalty box, and the Dogs went back to work.

Less than a minute later from the Stars power play goal, the Dogs added one of their own, scoring at the 9:16 mark to increase their lead to 4-2.  The middle part of the last frame saw lots of penalties, but no scoring until the 1:04 mark when the Bulldogs scored their 3rd man advantage goal of the game to make the margin 5-2.  The Stars would score again with only 25 ticks left on the clock on a short handed opportunity for the final 5-3 score.

Monday, January 16, 2006    Squirt AA Wins Texas Star Winter Classic in a Shootout!!!

Alliance - 3, Florida - 2 (SO):   In a very exciting, fast paced, back and forth game, it was fitting that it had to go to a shootout, and Alliance made the plays when they had to, beating the Florida Jr. Everblades and winning the Squirt Red Championship of the Texas Star Winter Classic Tournament in Farmers Branch on Monday.  In this rematch of a 4-1 Everblades win on Saturday, the Bulldogs took the first lead on a goal with only 1:55 remaining in the 1st period to go up 1-0.

Alliance held that lead for almost a full period before Florida would tie it up at 1-1 with 3:08 remaining in the 2nd period.  The action was up and down the ice, with both teams getting multiple scoring chances and the goalies making outstanding saves at each end.  The game went deep into the final frame still tied, until with only 4:26 remaining in regulation, the Bulldogs scored what looked like might be the game winner to go ahead 2-1.

Florida did not like being behind, and stepped up their intensity, and was rewarded with a goal just over a minute later to re-tie the game at 2-2 with just 3:05 left to play.  The final 3 minutes were as exciting as could be imagined, but both defenses gave everything and both goalies played excellent to keep the game tied at the end of regulation play.  At this point, it was off to the 5-player shootout.

The Bulldogs, being visitors, went first and scored on their first try.  On Florida's first attempt, the Alliance goalie made a tremendous save to give the Bulldogs a 1-goal advantage at 1-0.  The next 2 shooters for each team struck paydirt, keeping it a 1-goal lead for the Bulldogs at 3-2 with 2 shooters to go.  The next Bulldog shooter scored again, making Alliance 4 for 4 and taking a 4-2 lead in the shootout.  The 4th Florida shooter had to score to keep them in it, but once again the Alliance net-minder came up with the big save and it was Dog-pile time for Alliance, 4-2 winners in the shootout and Squirt Red Division Champions.

Sunday, January 15, 2006    Squirt AA in Texas Star Final Despite Loss...

Florida - 4, Alliance - 1:   Alliance fell to the Florida Jr. Everblades in their final preliminary game of the Texas Star Winter Classic Tournament in Valley Ranch Sunday afternoon, but as a result of their earlier stellar play, have earned a re-match with the Everblades in the Championship Game on Monday.  The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead into the 2nd period, but Florida quickly took control with 3 tallies in the frame, and added another in the 3rd to seal the victory.  The Championship is set for 11:00am in Farmers Branch on Monday.

Bulldogs Get 2nd Texas Star Win...

Saturday, January 7, 2006    Bulldogs Win 3rd Straight League Tilt...

Alliance - 9, Oklahoma City - 1:   The Bulldogs came out of the Christmas and New Year holiday break flying, and the Blazers of Oklahoma City were the unfortunate victims, as Alliance scored early and often in cruising to a NTXHL win at Valley Ranch on Saturday.  It was the Bulldogs' 3rd straight dominating league win, and they are 5-0-1 in their last 6 NTXHL games

Sunday, November 27, 2005    Squirt AA Wins Shootout in Fall Roundup...

Alliance - 6, Stars - 5 (SO):   In a back and forth battle to a 5-5 tie in regulation, the Bulldogs won their final game of the Stars Select Fall Roundup, beating the Stars Select Major in a sudden death shootout on Sunday morning at Valley Ranch.  After the first shooter from each team scored on their attempt, the second shooter for the Stars was stopped by the Alliance goalie while the second Bulldog won it for Alliance.

Saturday, November 26, 2005    Alliance Splits 2 in Fall Roundup...

Ice Jets '95 AAA - 6, Alliance - 2:   Alliance dropped their second game on Saturday in the Stars Select Fall Roundup, falling to the Ice Jets '95 AAA in Game 3 at Valley Ranch.  The Bulldogs will have to come back strong Sunday morning against the Stars Select Major to have any chance of advancing.

Alliance - 7, Oklahoma City - 1:   The Bulldogs got their first win of the Stars Select Fall Roundup, jumping all over the Blazers from north of the border on Saturday morning at Valley Ranch.   Alliance will have a major test later, when they face the Ice Jets '95 AAA in Game 3 at noon.

Friday, November 25, 2005    Dogs Fall in Game 1 of Fall Roundup...

DJHA Major '95 - 4, Alliance - 3:   The Bulldogs had too much turkey yesterday and did not appear to appreciate the early start very much, and the result was an opening round loss to the DJHA Major '95 in Game 1 of the Stars Select Fall Roundup Saturday morning at Valley Ranch.  Alliance had gone 1-1-1 against the Penguins in their 3 previous meetings this season, including a 0-0 tie last Sunday.  The Bulldogs will try the early morning thing again on Saturday, when they give it a go against Oklahoma City in Game 2 in Valley Ranch.

Sunday, November 13, 2005    Squirt AA Shuts Out OKC...

Alliance - 7, Oklahoma City - 0:   Sunday found the Bulldogs facing the Blazers of Oklahoma City in a NTXHL game at Valley Ranch.  The Blazers were in town for three games and were eager to leave with a win, however, the Bulldogs had other plans.  In a game in which the Blazers parents said, "this is the best we have played," the Bulldogs still were dominant

Scoring only one goal in the first period (one minute and 23 seconds in) on 15 solid shots, the Bulldogs settled in for a strong battle.  The second period saw more physical play and constant pressure in front of the Blazers net.  The Bulldogs scored just 29 seconds into the period to make it 2-0.  Penalties quickly became the name of the game for the rest of the period.

When the Ice opened up and play was 4 on 4, the Bulldogs were able to find the net again at the 8:57 mark and take a commanding 3-0 lead.  The Blazers would be penalized again with 5:27 to go in the period, giving the Bulldogs the man advantage.  At 43 seconds into the power play, the Bulldogs were able to capitalize and extend their lead to 4-0.  The scoring for the period was not over yet, when the power play unit went back to work with :49 seconds left in the period, as the Bulldogs were quick to find an opportunity and scored on a one-timer with :20 seconds left in the period for the 5-0 margin

The third period would see 7 more penalties (4 for the Blazers and 3 for the Bulldogs), however, neither team's power play could find the net.  Again, strong goaltending kept the Bulldogs at bay until the 3:33 mark of the frame, when they were able to beat a changing Blazer team and score to extend the lead to 6-0.  The final tally came with 2:25 left on the game clock for the 7-0 final score.

Sunday, November 6, 2005    Bulldogs Fall in Close Silver Stick Championship Game...

Mid Fairfield - 2, Alliance - 1:   In another very close and defensive game against the Host Team Mid Fairfield Blues, the Bulldogs fell in the Championship game of the Silver Stick Regionals in Stamford, CT Sunday.   Just as they had in the final pool game, once again the two best teams in this tournament battled back and forth all day, with neither team giving in and neither team taking control.  All the goals would be scored in the 2nd period, and all within just over a 2 minute time frame.

After a scoreless first period, the Bulldogs took the first lead with a nice top shelf goal for a 1-0 lead at the 4:30 mark of the 2nd period.   The Blues would not stand for that long, as they responded only 30 seconds later when they scored off the rush from a face-off to make it tied again 1-1 at the 4:00 mark.  Just over 2 minutes later, the Blues would take their first lead with the eventual game winner, making the score 2-1 with only 1:52 remaining in the second period.

The 3rd and last period was again very tight, with neither team able to find the back of the net, and the Blues skated away with the Championship banner on their home ice.  It was a good first tournament for the Bulldogs, as they come home Runners-Up with a 3-1-1 tourney mark.  Their next action will be against Oklahoma City on Sunday November 13th at Valley Ranch.

Bulldogs Advance to Silver Stick Championship Game...

Alliance - 3, Wonderland Wizards - 1:   Alliance played good defense, got good goaltending, and scored timely goals to earn a nice win over the Wonderland Wizards in the Semi-Finals of the Silver Stick Regionals in Stamford, CT Saturday night.   The win earned the Bulldogs a re-match in the Championship game with the Mid Fairfield team they tied earlier Saturday.  Mid Fairfield comes into the Final with wins over the West Haven Major Tier I (6-0), S. Connecticut Stars Major (4-0), and the Darien Huskies in the Semi-Finals.

The Bulldogs took an early 1-0 lead with a goal at the 7:59 mark of the opening frame.  The Wizards responded with the tying goal at 2:00 left in the 1st, but Alliance re-took the lead again just 18 seconds later to take a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.  The 2nd period was close and tight hockey, with neither team being able to get one past the net-minders, and it was still 2-1 Alliance heading into the final period of play.

The Bulldogs finally broke through the Wizard defense and goalie at 8:41 of the final period to get an insurance goal to make it a 3-1 game at that point.  From then on, the Bulldogs held the Wizards at bay for the win and the berth into the Championship game on Sunday.

Squirt AA Earns Semi-Finals with a Tie...

Alliance - 1, Mid Fairfield - 1:   Facing the best team they have seen thus far, the Bulldogs responded with a good defensive effort in this game against the Mid Fairfield Blues to earn a berth into the Semi-Finals of the Silver Stick Regionals in Stamford, CT.   The Blues had come into the game with 6-0 and 4-0 shutout victories, with Alliance becoming the first team to find the back of the Mid Fairfield net during the tournament.  The Bulldogs will face the Wonderland Wizards of Bridgeport, CT in the Semi-Finals on Saturday night.

Bulldogs go to 2 and 0 in Connecticut...

Alliance - 7, West Haven - 3:   Alliance continued their offensive game, and although this time it was a little closer, they still got a good win over the West Haven Major Tier I in Stamford, CT in Game 2 of the Silver Stick Regionals.   It took all three periods of play for the Bulldogs to pull away, but they come away with a 2-0 record and good positioning to earn a Semi-Final berth on Saturday.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a 1-0 lead at 8:30 of the 1st period, only to have West Haven tie it up just over a minute later at 1-1.  Alliance again re-took the lead at 2-1 with only 2:39 remaining in the initial frame, and appeared poised to carry the lead into the second.  West Haven had other ideas, and surprised the Dogs with another tying goal with only 2 ticks left on the clock to make it 2-2 headed into the 2nd.

After having to kill off 3 consecutive penalties early in the second period, the Bulldogs buttoned down the hatches defensively and opened up the offense with 2 more goals very late in the second to take a 4-2 lead into the final period of play.  Alliance extended the lead to 5-2 early in the 3rd period, but once again, West Haven responded just over a minute later to bring it back to a 2-goal margin at 5-3 with almost 7 minutes still left to play.

The Bulldogs once again rose to the occasion and sealed the game with 2 goals exactly a minute apart at 3:19 and 2:19 left to take the wind out of West Haven's sails and take home the 7-3 victory.   Game 3 will be on Saturday against the Mid Fairfield Major, then playoffs starting Saturday night.

Squirt AA Coasts in Silver Stick Game 1...

Alliance - 9, S. Connecticut - 1:   The Bulldogs started strong and coasted to a win over the S. Connecticut Stars Major in Game 1 of the Silver Stick Regionals in Stamford, CT on Friday.   Alliance scored early in the game, in the middle, and in the end for a complete start to finish dominating win.

The Bulldogs tallied 3 goals in the 1st period, followed up by 3 more in the 2nd period.  The Stars ruined any hopes of a shutout with their lone goal coming in the 2nd period.  Alliance came back hard in the final frame, getting again 3 more for the final 9-1 win.  The play of the Bulldogs was characterized by the fact they drove so hard to the net that 4 apparent goals were waved off due to a Bulldog in the crease.

The Bulldogs will now face the West Haven Major Tier I in Game 2 Friday, with Game 3 on Saturday against the Mid Fairfield Major, then playoffs starting Saturday night.

Saturday, October 29, 2005    Bulldogs Back in the Win Column...

Alliance - 5, Stars Select - 2:   The Bulldogs got back into the win column, as they beat the Stars Select Major in a  NTXHL contest Saturday in Farmers Branch.   It was a good win to get the momentum back, as the Bulldogs are set to head up to to Stamford, CT for the Silver Stick Regionals.   They will have two games on Friday, first against the S. Connecticut Stars Major, followed up by the West Haven Major Tier IGame 3 will be on Saturday against the Mid Fairfield Major, then playoffs starting Saturday night.

Ice Jets '95 AAA - 5, Alliance - 3:   The Bulldogs' 5 game winning streak came to an end Saturday, as they fell to the Ice Jets '95 AAA in a  NTXHL contest at Valley Ranch.   It was the same result as the last time they faced this Jets team, and Alliance remains in 2nd Place of the Squirt A1 Division of the NTXHL.  More on this game as it is received...

Wednesday, October 19, 2005    Bulldogs Take 5th Straight Win...

Alliance - 7, DJHA Major '95 - 2:   The Bulldogs won their 5th straight game and 4th straight NTXHL contest last night, as they handed the DJHA Major '95 a loss at the Ice Training Center in Richardson.   The last time Alliance lost was to these same Penguins, just over a month ago in the 2nd game of the season.

The Bulldogs applied pressure early and never let up, keeping the play of the game in the offensive end for the majority of the game.  Alliance scored at the 9:14 mark of the 1st period to take the early 1-0 lead.  Not giving DJHA time to think about what just happened, the Bulldogs added their second goal just 8 seconds later to quickly go up 2-0.  Keeping a good thing going, the Bulldogs again found the back of the net, this time only 17 seconds later to make it 3-0 in less than half a minute.   Alliance never turned back at this point, and finished the 1st period with a 4-1 lead

The second period saw the Bulldogs extending the lead to 5-1 one minute and fifteen seconds into the frame.  The remainder of the period saw constant pressure by the Bulldogs, but the only goal scoring came on a short handed goal by the Penguins at the 5:48 point, and the 2nd period ended at 5-2

The third period saw more physical play by both teams, and a handful of penalties.  The pressure was continuously put on by Alliance in the Penguins defensive zone, but the Bulldogs couldn't get the puck to find the back of the net until the 2:45 mark, making it 6-2.  To cap off the scoring, the Bulldogs added a late goal with just 45 seconds left on the game clock to secure a 7-2 victory.

The Bulldog's next game is Saturday October 22nd against the Ice Jets '95 AAA in NTXHL action at Valley Ranch.  Alliance comes into the Ice Jets game with a 4-2 league mark, looking to hand the Jets their first loss and narrowing the gap between the 2nd Place Bulldogs and the 1st Place Jets.

Sunday, October 16, 2005    Squirt AA Prevails 4-2 over Stars Major...

Alliance - 4, Star Major - 2:   In a 39 minute NTXHL game at Valley Ranch early Sunday morning, the Bulldogs and the Stars Select Major accumulated 38 Penalty Minutes between them.   The penalty box monitors earned their pay in this one, but the power play units from both teams failed to post a point.  The Bulldogs got on the board first, late in the 1st period with an even strength goal at the 3:32 mark to take a 1-0 lead, which is where it stood after one period of play.

The second period saw no scoring but did see a combined 6 penalties.  Both goalies kept the gates shut and the game close.  The 3rd period would see 4 goals scored and another 11 penalties.  The Stars scored first in the final period, tying the game at 1 with a short handed goal at the 8:28 mark.   The Bulldogs then found the penalty box again, putting the Stars on the man advantage attack.  However, a quick shot after a face-off win put the Bulldogs up by one at 2-1 at the 8:14 mark on a short handed goal.

Short handed goals seemed to be the theme of the game, as the Stars once again found themselves a man up and went for the break out pass.  The Bulldogs jumped in front of the pass and scored their third goal (short handed) to increase their lead to 3-1 with 3:32 left in the period.  The Stars were not going to give up easily, and pulled their goalie with just over a minute to play.  With 54 ticks left on the game clock, the Stars found the back of the net and made the score 3-2 Alliance.  The Bulldogs put the icing on the cake with an empty netter with only 6 seconds left for a 4-2 final score.  The bulldogs next game comes Wednesday night against DJHA Major '95 at ITC in Richardson.

Alliance - 12, Ice Jets '96 AA - 1:  The Bulldogs hit the ice going full speed and didn't let up as they swept past the Ice Jets '96 AA  in a NTXHL contest Saturday at Valley Ranch.  Alliance scored early and often in building a 6-0 1st period lead, and extended it to 9-1 with 3 more in the 2nd period.  The Bulldogs finished it off with another 3 in the final frame to even their league mark to 2-2-0 for the season.   Next action for the Bulldogs will be this Thursday when they face the DJHA Major '95 in Plano.

Sunday, October 2, 2005    Squirt AA Take Exhibition Win...

Alliance - 4, Littleton Squirt A - 3:   The Squirt AA team finished their week with a friendship game against the Littleton Hawks Squirt A on Sunday at Valley Ranch.  The game was a welcome back for former Alliance Bulldog Dominic Turgeon, who just left Dallas for Colorado a couple of weeks ago.  Although he hasn't been gone long, he has found his spot on the Hawks top squirt team.

The game was an early one for both teams Sunday morning, and was an even played game.  The Bulldogs got on the board first at the 8:34 mark of the first period for a 1-0 lead, and the remainder of the period went scoreless.  The second period saw the Hawks find their stride, scoring the next two goals to take a 2-1 lead with 4:15 left in the period.   The Bulldogs tied the game at the 2:57 point of the period and carried the 2-2 tie into the 3rd

The final period saw Littleton take a 3-2 lead early in the period scoring a power play goal at the 11:36 point of the period.  The play stayed close throughout the period.  With 7:48 left in the game and Littleton leading 3-2, the Bulldogs found the penalty box again.  Fortunately, the Bulldogs were able to find a hole in the Hawks power play unit and expose them for an Alliance short handed goal that tied it back up again at 3-3 with 6:54 left in the third.  The Bulldogs then gained the lead with a late goal at 1:25 left in the game, and then stood strong for the remainder of the game to secure a 4-3 victory.

The Bulldogs even their brief season record at 2-2-0, with their next game action this Saturday October 8th, when they face the Ice Jets '96 AA in NTXHL play at Valley Ranch.

Alliance - 8, Ice Jets '96 AA - 1:  The Bulldogs found their stride AND the WIN column in their third NTXHL contest of the season, as they defeated the Ice Jets '96 AA early Sunday morning at Valley Ranch.  The Bulldogs came to play, finding the back of the net at the 9:54 mark of the first period to take an early 1-0 lead.  The remainder of the period saw several shots against a strong Ice Jet Goalie but no more scoring

The second period saw the Bulldogs having more bite and less bark, putting up three more goals and taking a commanding 4-0 lead by the 4:15 mark of the second.  The Ice Jet team was determined to get on the board, and scored a power play goal with just 21 ticks left on the clock in the second to make it 4-1 after 2 periods of play.

Much like the second period, the Alliance came back out on the ice in the 3rd frame with tenacious determination to score.  Playing team hockey and distributing the puck around, the Bulldogs added 4 more unanswered goals in the final period, with the last one coming with 22 seconds left in the game.  The Bulldogs will take the ice again next Sunday in a scrimmage against the Littleton Hawks Squirt A from Colorado.

DJHA Major '95 - 2, Alliance - 1:  The Bulldogs hit the ice for their second NTXHL and regular season game against the DJHA Major '95 Sunday afternoon at the Ice Training Center in Richardson.  The majority of the first period was played at the DJHA end, with the Bulldogs maintaining pressure the whole period.  However, the 1st period ended in a 0-0 tie

The second period saw a determined Penguin team fight for the lead, scoring at the 10:59 point early in the second to take a 1-0 lead.  The game stayed closed until late in the period, when DJHA added a second tally, scoring on a power play opportunity with 3:37 left in the period.  The Bulldogs did not give up, making it a one-shot game by scoring at the 8:57 mark of the third period to close the lead to 2-1.   However, all the goal scoring was done at this point, and a hard fought battle ended in a 2-1 deficit for the Bulldogs.  This next weekend, Alliance will travel to Tulsa for a NTXHL league weekend, playing 3 games on Saturday the 24th, and one more on Sunday the 25th.

Ice Jets '95 AAA - 7, Alliance - 5:  In their first NTXHL and regular season action against the Ice Jets '95 AAA, it was game that started off fast and never slowed down, as the Bulldogs took an early 1-0 lead just a minute into the game at Valley Ranch.  The Ice Jets fought back to tie the game 53 seconds later and then took a 2-1 lead 10 seconds after that.  At the end of the first period the Ice Jets were still up 2-1.

The Ice Jets then started the second period out with 2 quick power play goals, then added 1 even strength goal to take a commanding 5-1 lead.  The Bulldogs were still not out of fight, though, pulling to within 2 goals at 5-3 with 5:19 left in the second.  Both teams then each added a goal, with the period ending with a two goal differential at 6-4 Ice Jets.

By the 9:44 mark of the third, the Bulldogs had scored again and were within 1 at 6-5 and fighting hard.  The Bulldogs pulled their goalie with 38 seconds left on the clock, and apparently tied the game with 22 ticks left, however, the goal was called off by the officials.   The Ice Jets scored an empty netter with :09 left to secure the victory 7-5.  The Bulldogs next game is on September 18th against the DJHA Major '95 in another NTXHL contest.
