Frozen Four - Contest Winner Collects Prize
On Wednesday night, we presented the 1st Place Prize of the inaugural Alliance Frozen Four Brackett Contest. First Place Winner Sean Heidrick made his choice of our 3 prizes to choose from, selecting the professionally framed 30" x28" authenticated autographed picture of Boston Bruin Bobby Orr scoring the Stanley Cup winning goal in overtime on May 10, 1970.
Sean lives in Plano where he attends Rice Middle School, and last year played defense for the Dallas Storm Bantam AA team. Congratulations to Sean, and good luck during the upcoming tryouts!

Frozen Four - Denver Repeats Championship
First Place was a tie, with 2 people getting a total of 34 points, but Sean Heidrick wins the tie-breaker with a guess of 12 goals for the Champion (Denver scored 18). 2nd Place goes to Kevin Smith, also with 34 points, and our 3rd Place winner is Marianne Mudgett with 32 points. Sean will get his choice of our 3 prizes to choose from, followed by Kevin of course, and then Marianne will also end up with a pretty nice prize for 3rd Place.
We had 2 people guess the exact number of goals scored in the tournament by all teams (91), so Doug Descoteaux and Greg Vanover will receive consolation prizes for their prognosticating skills.
We will let you know what each winner chose and received for their prizes, after our giant accounting firm of Dewey Sooum & Howe audits the results. It was fun to do this for the first time and we hope to have you back again next year!

Frozen Four Contest - Down to the Championship Game
Well, the long trip has finally come to down the final 2 teams for the NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Championship, and it will be the Fighting Sioux of North Dakota against the Pioneers of Denver University playing for all the marbles Saturday night.
If North Dakota wins, it will be one set of 3 people placing 1st , 2nd, and 3rd, and if Denver wins, it will be a completely different set of 3 people.
Sunday, March 27, 2005 Final/Frozen 4 Determined
The sixteen team field has been reduced to the Final 4, but not until there were 5 overtime games and 3 other 1-goal games in the first 12 games of the Championship Tournament. Three #1 Regional Seeds and one #2 Seed still remain, but 2 of your selected favorites (Boston College & Michigan) have been eliminated.
There are 3 people currently tied for first place with 20 points, with each of the three selecting every game thus far correctly. The perfect ride will end for at least 2 of them in the Semi-Finals, and each of the 3 leaders picked a different team to win the Championship. There are several people with lower point totals that still have a chance to win, depending on how the final 3 games turn out. Follow the Alliance Bulldogs at the USA Hockey National Championships this week, and then return the following week for the NCAA Frozen 4 Semi-Finals on April 7th, and the Championship on April 9th.
Friday, March 25, 2005 Entries CLOSED, Game ON!
Well, we hope you thought about those tie-breaker numbers, because it will probably come down to that to determine a winner. Among the 16 teams in the tournament, you picked eight (8) different winners for the National Championship. Among the favorite teams to go all the way were Boston College, Colorado College, Michigan, and Denver University. If Bemidji State happens to win it all, we will definitely know who our winner is, as one (1) person picked the Beavers to bring home the bacon. Among the favorites, here are the numbers choosing them to win it all:
Games start this afternoon, so keep checking back here for results, and after Round 1, for the early leaders....

Deadline Extended to Noon, Friday March 25th!
Due to the outstanding response we have received, and the donation of some prizes that exceed our previous description of "nothing spectacular", we have extended the deadline for entry into the contest to Noon, Friday March 25th.
One of the prizes we have just received for the contest is a professionally framed 30" x28" authenticated autographed picture of Boston Bruin Bobby Orr scoring the Stanley Cup winning goal in overtime on May 10, 1970. We are also receiving several other interesting items as well, and they will be announced in the upcoming days. Keep in mind, there is no money involved, and it is just for fun.
The NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Championship Tournament is upon us, and this year Alliance is offering you the chance to learn more about College Hockey and have some fun doing it. Just like many of you already do for the NCAA Basketball Tournament, we are having a NCAA Hockey Frozen Four Bracket Contest. There is no money involved, and it is just for fun. However, there will be prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place winners - nothing spectacular, just hockey related!
Simply choose the teams you think will win each game, picking all games to the National Championship, and SUBMIT. Games chosen correctly earn you points in the contest, with Round 1 games getting you 1 point for each correct winner chosen and Round 2 games 3 points for each winner. A correct Semi-Finalist will get you 7 points each, and you will earn 10 points for selecting the correct National Champion. Picking each game correctly will earn you a maximum of 44 total points. The top 3 points winners will receive prizes. The Tie-Breaker is the total goals scored by the National Champion in their 4 Games, with the closest guess being the winner.
Do your homework! Check out the links to each team's home page, find out how they did against the competition this season, see which players are the top ones for each team. Who has the goaltending? Who plays best against the tough teams? Who can upset the top teams? Where are the players from and what was their path to college? You may be a player on a Frozen Four team in the future!
Entry Deadline is Noon, Friday, March 25th Nat'l Seed - Team Name (Regional Seed) |
