Registration for tryouts for the 16U & 18U Midget Tier II sessions will be closed at Midnight, Thursday June 21st. All players planning on trying out for these teams must register on-line before that time. The reason for this deadline is so the coaches have time to formulate the specific teams for tryouts. A reminder that ALL remaining Midget Tryouts will be held at Polar Ice Grapevine Mills. The schedule for the weekend can be seen by clicking HERE...
Player team assignments will be emailed to each player before the first tryout session. Team assignments for sessions following cuts will be given to each player when they check in at the registration table for the following tryout session. Team assignments will not be posted to the web site.

Alliance Announces Coaches and Teams for 2007-2008 Season...
The Alliance Youth Hockey Association is pleased and excited to announce our teams and coaches for the upcoming 2007-2008 season. With the purpose of continuing our foundation of development, expanding our reach across the DFW Metroplex, and based on the feedback from many players and families throughout the area, Alliance will be fielding fourteen (14) teams next season.
The most noticeable and significant change is the addition of a long awaited and highly requested 18U Tier I AAA Midget Major team to the Alliance offering, which will be coached by the nationally recognized and highly respected Chris Kostopoulos. Based on the success of the Alliance Tier I program the past 3 seasons, specifically the 16U AAA teams coached by Kostopoulos, the Alliance Board of Directors voted to add the final piece of the Tier I puzzle to the Bulldog family. For more information about the new team, click HERE...
Hockey Operations
With the extra commitment and responsibility of coaching an 18U Tier I team, Kostopoulos will hand over the reins of the position of Alliance Director of Hockey Operations to the talented and highly experienced duo of Jouni Lehtola and Greg Vanover. Both Lehtola and Vanover not only join Kostopoulos as USA Hockey selected evaluators and instructors at the 2007 Rocky Mountain District (RMD) Player Development Camp, but will bring to bear upon all the other Alliance Coaches their top quality direction and leadership. Kostopoulos will still continue to provide his experience, advice, and leadership as well.
Tier I - AAA
Much like seasons past, we will again house teams to compete at the highest level of Tier I & Tier II competition across the country. All Alliance Bulldogs Tier I AAA teams aim to provide a place for the best players in DFW & the surrounding areas to come together at their specific age group & compete towards USA Hockey’s Tier I State, Regional, and National Championships. For definition of Tier I vs. AAA, click HERE...
As mentioned above, we have now added an 18U AAA Midget Major squad to top off the Alliance Tier I program, and are looking forward to having them compete quickly on a national level. Last season, our 16U Tier I AAA team won the Tier I RMD Championship, then made it all the way to the Semi-Finals of the 2007 USA Hockey National Championships. Our 12U Tier I AAA team won the Texas State Championship and made it to the Final of the Tier I RMD Championship.
Tier II - Prep
Back again after a very successful first season, will be our Alliance Bulldog “PREP TEAMS”, which will be in place for those players who are very close to contributing at the Tier I level, or who are being primed to make the transition to Tier I Hockey during the upcoming season or the following year. Our older Prep teams will spend the season competing at the Tier I level through an independent schedule of AAA events and showcases. To culminate the season, the teams will compete at the Tier II level for USA Hockey’s State, Regional, and National Championships.
Last season, our 18U Prep team won the Tier II RMD Championship, then made it all the way to the Quarter-Finals of the 2007 USA Hockey National Championships, and our 16U Prep team made it to the Finals of the Tier II RMD Championships. Both our Squirt Prep and 12U PeeWee Prep teams made it to their respective Final Championship of the NTXHL Playoffs.
Tier II AA/A
The staple of our program since its inception in 2001, our AA/A teams will compete for the NTXHL Championships at their respective age levels, as well as for the Tier II State, Regional, and National Championships along side their Tier II Prep Bulldog brethren. Many of the current and former Alliance players that have moved on to our AAA and Prep programs began their Bulldog careers on one of our AA/A teams. Last season, our 16U AA team and 18U AA team each won both the NTXHL Regular Season and Playoff Championships.
We have always felt that this is the core of our program, and where we feel we have invested a lot of effort to keep the quality high and improve when possible. We added some coaches to the staff this past season that turned out to be great additions, and helped us improve the quality of our instruction and leadership. Consistency in instruction is important, and Alliance returns thirteen (13) of our coaches from last season, and have added one new coach to the staff for 2007-2008.
18U Midget Major - As mentioned above, the new 18U Major Midget AAA team will be coached by Chris Kostopoulos, assisted by Jaz Hayden and Scott Tinkham.
Back to coach his team to defend their NTXHL Championship will be 18U Midget Major AA Coach Phil Chaney.
16U Midget Minor - With the move of Kostopoulos and Hayden to the new 18U AAA team, the 16U Bulldog teams will each have a new but familiar face behind the bench. Greg Vanover moves from his successful tenure at the 14U Bantam AAA level into the big shoes left by Kostopoulos, and will coach the 16U Midget Minor AAA team.
After winning the NTXHL Championship last season with his 16U AA team, Jeff Ramsay will move up to the 16U Midget Minor Prep spot left open by Hayden's move to the 18U AAA team.
Also moving up from the 14U AAA team will be Coach Jeff Mead, who will take over the 16U Midget Minor AA team from Ramsay, defending NTXHL Champions.
14U Bantam - Alliance has added a new face to our staff this season, new 14U Bantam AAA Head Coach Peter Wood. Peter comes to Alliance with 18 years of experience in player development at all levels. He is the Director & Owner of Hard Water Hockey training programs, and is also Director of the Team Texas Hockey AAA Summer Select Program.
After taking his 18U Prep team to the National Championship Quarter-Finals last season (his 2nd Nationals appearance in 3 seasons), Coach Dave Fry will return to continue helping develop players by coaching the 14U Bantam Prep team next season.
One assistance coach that will be returning as a Head Coach next season is former Boston College Assistant Captain Ty Hennes. Ty was instrumental in helping Coach Fry with the 18U Prep team in their run to Nationals last season, and brings a wealth of experience at the highest levels. Ty will be coaching our 14U Bantam AA team in 2007-2008.
12U PeeWee - Back for another run at the RMD Championship and to defend a State Championship will be 12U PeeWee AAA Head Coach Steve Lamere.
In addition to the 12U AAA team, Lamere will team up with Jouni Lehtola to help develop players by coaching the 12U PeeWee Prep team together.
Coach Bob Windschitl moves up from last year's Squirt '96/97 team to Coach the 12U PeeWee AA team for the 2007-2008 season.
Squirt - Returning after a successful first season at Alliance, Jouni Lehtola will again be Coaching the Squirt Prep team, which last year made it to the NTXHL Playoff Championship series.
The Squirt AA team will be coached in tandem by Bob Windschitl and Greg Glashauser.
Mite - Last year's Mite team, the first ever Mite team in the history of Alliance, had a great year under Coach Greg Glashauser, and he returns again to coach next season's Mite Prep team.
Goalies - Returning for another season in the fold with a new and improved program will Be Alliance Goaltending Coach Cameron MacDonald.
* Goalies are to attend ALL sessions for their assigned team until they are cut
