'Dogs Learn Something New...

DJHA Squirt Major – 5, Alliance – 1:  For better or for worse, in sickness and in health...YOU GOTTA LOVE THESE GUYS.  The Bulldogs tried new positions with different personnel on different lines and the game was played.  Timing on passing appeared to be off by just a step and unfortunately the DJHA Squirt Major was there to take advantage of the situation.  New Positions also brought out new stars on defense.  When the gatekeeper was down, other Bulldogs stepped up to clear the zone.  Still, it was a long day at the office with the final score DJHA – 5 and Bulldogs – 1.

Bulldogs Close Fall Roundup with High Noon Shoot-out Championship...

Alliance – 3, Ice Jets ‘97AA – 2 (SO):  "We never know how great we are, until we are called to rise."  And rise they did!!!!!! The Bulldogs were greeted by a standing room only crowd in Valley Ranch for the Fall Round Up Championship Game against the Ice Jets 97 team.  The Bulldogs struck 1st against a very quick Ice Jets team.

The Ice Jets struck back making the score 1-1 before then taking the lead.  The Bulldogs held the game at a 1 goal differential.  Stellar goaltending coupled with great passing brought the Game’s momentum to even a higher level yet.  Shots were taken by both teams only to be denied by the Goalies.  With 7 minutes left to play in the third period the Bulldogs found the Ice Jets net to tie the score at 2.

The battle raged on for the rest of the 3rd period, forcing overtime.  With hands and faces pressed against the glass at the rink, everyone watched the battle rage for the next 5 minutes.  Both teams drove down the ice with Pucks flying off the cross bars, Bulldogs rebounding and the Gate Keeper standing Tall at his post forcing the SHOOT-OUT.  In the final moments two of the three Bulldog shooters hit the mark and the Bulldog goalie denied total access.  BULLDOGS WIN THE CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!!!!!!!

'Dogs Earn Spot in Roundup Championship Game...

Ice Jets ‘97AA – 5, Alliance – 3:  Humility is a Great Character Builder and the Ice Jets 97AA team came willing to serve a small dose. In their 2nd game of the day, the Bulldogs were pitted against an Ice Jets team who was determined to secure a playoff berth.  The Bulldogs took the ice and for the 1st time in the tournament stumbled temporarily.

At the end of the 1st period the score was 4-1 Ice Jets.  The Prep team fell behind 5-1 before the boys turned the table.  The Bulldogs fought back to a 5-3 score, but the clock was not kind.  The Bulldogs now look forward to THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME on Sunday.

Bulldogs Earn Playoff Birth in Fall Round Up Tourny!!

Alliance – 3, HP Scots – 1:  Thanksgiving isn't over yet, as the Bulldog Squirt Prep Team picked up another win securing their place in the championship of the Fall Round Up Tournament.  The HP Scots squirt team and the Bulldogs were the only 2 teams still undefeated in the tournament.  This morning’s match up cut that down to one team.

The Bulldogs scored the 1st goal.  The defensemen were a large part of the game, carrying the puck into the zone to make the score 2-1.  In the final minutes, the Scots pulled their goalie and the Bulldogs got an empty net goal.  Final Score:  Bulldogs 3 – Scots 1

Squirt Preps.....Plenty of Thanks and Plenty of Giving...

Alliance – 5, Dallas Stars Selects Major – 2:  The afternoon game brought the Dallas Stars Selects to challenge the Bulldogs.  The 1st period ended with the Bulldogs ahead 1-0.  The Bulldogs then opened up the door allowing the Stars Selects Major to score twice and take the lead 2-1 before the Bulldogs tied up the score heading into the 3rd period.

The 3rd period was marked with several scoring chances, and the Bulldogs made the most of them, scoring 3 times to go home Winners.

Alliance – 3, DJHA Squirt Major – 2 (SO):  With Thanksgiving past and the busiest shopping day of the year at hand, the only safe place left in Dallas was at a hockey rink…that is, unless your team was picked to play the 1st day of the Fall Roundup against the Mighty Squirt Prep Bulldogs.

First up were the DJHA Squirt Major Penguins. The Penguins struck 1st before the Bulldogs bit back to tie the score at one.  Most of the game was filled with quality defensive play.  In the 3rd period, the Penguins found the net with less than three minutes to play but the Bulldogs responded with a quick breakaway one minute later and tied the score at 2.  The game finished in a shoot-out and a Bulldogs win!

Squirts Honor Veterans with a Win...

Alliance – 5, Dallas Stars Selects Major – 3   The Bulldogs’ schedule took them to Farmers Branch on Saturday.  At 4:30 the puck dropped and the Boys went to work. Most of the 1st and 3rd period was played in the Stars Selects Major end of the ice. The Bulldogs created several opportunities to score throughout the game and put a lot of quality shots on goal.  Five shots found the mark resulting in a final score of 5 – 3.

The Bulldogs continue their winning ways as they head into a bye week and the Fall Roundup tournament. The Squirt Prep team would like to say "Thank you" to all Veterans.  Your service has allowed us the PRIVILEGE to live in this Great Nation and freely participate in a sport we love… God Bless all of you.

The Boys are Back in Town...

Alliance – 7, Ice Jets 97 AA – 0:  The Bulldogs are back in town.  They hit the ice eager to show the Ice Jets 97AA team all the things they had learned up north.  The offense passed at every opportunity they could find, and when there was no opportunity, they created one.

The defense showed the Ice Jets why you never cross a blue line when a Bulldog is on the other side.  Stellar goal tending led to the 2nd shut-out of the season.  Welcome Home Bulldogs!!!!!!  Welcome Home....Final 7-0

Oh, Canada II...

London Jr. Knights – 4, Alliance - 1:  The Bulldogs found themselves center stage in the championship game against the only team that handed them a defeat in the tournament, the tough London Jr. Knights AA Green.  Oh Canada was back and I think they actually grew a few inches overnight.  The 1st period, however, showed the enormous potential of this team.  The Bulldogs laid everything they had on the ice:  passing and shooting and blocking pucks.  They made believers out of everyone.  (Did I mention the Knights did not manage a single shot on our goal the first period?) But as the 2nd period began, the Canadian machine came back slow and steady and handed the Bulldogs a second place seat and runner up medals…GREAT TOURNAMENT GUYS!!!!!!!!!  WE ARE PROUD OF YOU!!

Alliance – 5, Kirkwood Stars - 3:   5:30 a.m. came early as the Bulldogs found themselves in a must win semi-final match if there would be any hope of championship play.  The Kirkwood Stars took the ice and looked determined to earn bragging rights. However, the Bulldogs rose to the occasion and would not be denied.  Quick passing combinations along with a strong defensive effort gave the Bulldogs a 5-3 Victory and a spot in the tournament finals...Bulldogs Win!!!!!  Bulldogs Win!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, Canada...

London Jr. Knights – 4, Alliance - 3 The Bulldogs had come across state lines but now they found themselves facing the Canadian border as they matched up against the London Jr. Knights AA Green.  There were too many shots on the Bulldogs goal to count, but the Gatekeeper “stood on his head” and kept the game close until the Bulldogs turned the table on the boys from up North.  The Bulldogs came to life and fought back to tie the game at 3, but Oh Canada , a late goal handed the Bulldogs their first defeat of the tournament with a final score of 4 – 3.

Round 2...

Alliance – 4, Des Moines Jr. Bucs – 4  The 1st game on Saturday pitted the Mighty Bulldogs against a relentless Des Moines Jr. Bucs team.  This game was championship quality with both teams refusing to give in.  Great passing combinations kept the Bucs on their heels throughout the game.  The teams exchanged leads multiple times. Each puck drop felt like the 12th round of a prize fight.  At the end of the game the score was 4-4 earning the Bulldogs 1 more point towards the championship round.

Chi Town Welcomes Bulldogs...

Alliance – 6, Northwest Illinois Chargers – 0:  There was no lag in these Bulldogs as they stepped off the Jet and on to the ice to face the Northwest Chargers (IL) in Game 1 of the Chicago Cup. From the first drop of the puck, the Bulldogs brought their own brand of Texas hockey to their relatives up north.  Friday evening’s game was filled with great passing combinations while the Gatekeeper denied access to the Chargers giving the Bulldogs their first shut-out of the season.  Dogs WIN!!!!!!!!!! Dogs WIN !!!!!!!!!!

Preps Take DJHA in Close One...

Alliance – 5, DJHA – 4:  The Bulldogs went back to work on Sunday against the Penguins.  The 1st period was filled with great passing combinations that left the Penguins in the water (1-0).  The second period was marked with a brief momentum change, but the Bulldogs responded with shots bouncing off cross bars and ricocheting off posts and finally coming to rest in the Penguin net.

With the score tied 3 – 3, the game intensity picked up in the third period.  Several shots aimed at the Bulldog net where denied by the Gatekeeper.

The Defense flexed its muscles shutting down several Penguin attempts as the offense roamed the ice passing at every opportunity.  After the late go-ahead goal and a strong defensive performance over the final 2 minutes, the final result was 5-4.

Bulldogs Nipped in OT...

Texas Aces – 5, Alliance – 4 (OT)  The Prep Team took the ice at 8:30am and continued the pace from yesterday’s 3rd period.  The 1st period was filled with passing combinations that led to a commanding 4-1 lead.  Shortly after the second period started, the boys opened the door allowing the Aces to come back into the game.  The third period had moments of great passing combinations but they just could not convert.  If you missed your jog this morning ...this should have gotten your heart rate up.  The score was now 4-4 and yes, the Bulldogs took it into O.T.  Four minutes later, the puck found its way into the Bulldogs net….Final Score 4-5

Squirt Preps Race Past Scots...

Alliance – 6, HP Scots - 1:  The Bulldogs proved to be gracious hosts to the visiting Scots team for most of the 1st and 2nd period.  The score was 1-1.  During the third period however, ALL FOUR PAWS HIT THE ICE...The defense stood strong as the offense took turns shooting on the Scots net. Final score: 6-1 - Bulldogs Win!!!  Bulldogs Win!!!

'Dogs Drop League Opener in Shootout...

DJHA Squirt Major – 5, Alliance 4 (SO):  The Bulldogs kicked off the NTXHL regular season today.  They battled their way back from trailing the DJHA Squirt Major 3-1 to tie the score in the third period. Then the boys took the lead 4-3. The DJHA quickly struck back to tie the score 4-4. With seconds left on the clock the Bulldogs peppered the DJHA goal tender but could not land the winning goal.  5 minutes of overtime was played with both teams refusing to yield.  Bring on "THE SHOOT OUT".  6 shots later, the final blow was delivered as the Bulldogs took their first loss of the regular season.

Alliance Plays it Tough...

Texas Attack 97AAA - 7, Alliance - 2:  In semi final play, the Bulldogs faced off against the Texas Attack 97AAA.  The 1st period showed the incredible potential of this newly formed team.  The offense put on a fantastic display of team passing while the defense stood equal to the task.

By the end of the 1st period the Attack was held to a 1 goal lead (2-1) and a realization that they were in a Dog Fight.  By the 3rd period the Bulldogs had generated lots of good scoring chances but could not get enough past the Attack gate keeper.  The score board showed a 7-2 final but the Bulldogs showed the Heart of a Champion...

Editor's Note:  The Attack came into the Semi-Final having scored 49 goals in 3 games, and allowing none (zero, zilch).  The Bulldogs not only played them closer than anyone, they also scored the only goals the Attack would allow the entire tournament, as they won the Championship game by a score of 7-0.
