Another Exciting Alliance
Dallas Cup Crowns 4 Champs Again...
The
2008
Alliance Dallas Cup wrapped up action yesterday, with another 4 new
champions taking home a crown. After 72 games between 35 different teams,
overtimes, double overtimes, Quarters and Semis, banners were rolled out for
each Division winner.
In the newly added
18UAA Division, the
Phoenix Polar Bears
handed the
Darien
Huskies
their only loss of the tournament in the final to become the inaugural
Champions in that division. In the
16UAAA Division, the
Colorado
Thunderbirds '91
finally got the title they
have sought for 3 years, holding off the
Shattuck
St. Mary's
boys from Minnesota in the title game.
In the
16UAA bracket, the local
boys from the
Texas
Attack Prep
brought home the first Dallas Cup title for their
program, rebounding from a preliminary round loss to the
Mission
Arizona Ice
with a solid shutout win when it counted most in the final. The
Attack gang wasn't satisfied with just the one trophy, so the
Texas
Attack '93
Bantam team also took revenge from an earlier loss to
Shattuck St. Mary's
by beating them in the
14UAAA championship game
to get another banner for the orange and black.
Thank You...
The Alliance Dallas Cup
would like to thank all the teams, players, coaches, and parents for another
great weekend celebrating the highest levels of youth hockey. Everyone was
very friendly, professional, and displayed good sportsmanship through good times
and bad, wins and losses. We look forward to another great Alliance Dallas
Cup in 2009.
Special Thank You...
A special THANK YOU
goes out to Lanette Rees, Tournament Director of the 2008 Alliance Dallas
Cup. In her first year as Director of the Tournament, Lanette made it the
best one yet. Only someone who has actually handled a tournament like this
knows how much time and energy is expended over months of preparation
and sleepless nights during the actual tournament. If you see
Lanette, let her know how much it was appreciated, or drop her a note to
congratulate her at
