Saturday, April 8, 2006    Alliance Open House a Huge Success...

The first ever Alliance Open House drew overflowing crowds with hundreds of players and parents flocking to Valley Ranch on Saturday, as Alliance introduced their 2006-2007 Coaches and Teams.    A great response was received from those in attendance to the introduction of the new line of Bulldog PREP Teams.   Additional sheets of ice had to be used for the unexpected high number of players taking advantage of the "Skate with the Coaches" sessions.

It was announced that due to the number of additional players arriving, that registrations for our Spring Camp would be held open indefinitely to allow those players a chance to register.  The Camp starts this Wednesday April 12th, and you can register by clicking HERE...

Alliance Open House & Free Practice Session Open to ALL DFW Area Hockey Players...

Alliance is hosting an OPEN HOUSE and SKATE with the Coaches for ALL DFW Area Youth hockey players and parents this Saturday at our Training Facilities in Valley Ranch.   Anyone who is interested in Alliance hockey is encouraged to attend, and you do not have to be registered for our camp to skate or attend the meetings.  Meetings will be held for each individual age group to meet the Alliance Coaches, get information about our 2006-2007 Teams, and find out more about the Alliance Youth Hockey Association.

Free practice and drill sessions run by the Alliance Coaches will be provided for each age group except Midgets.  All Alliance Coaches and Board Members will be available for questions and discussion.  The Meeting & Skate times for each age group are as indicated below by clicking HERE...

Thursday, March 30, 2006    Camp to Start One Week Later...

Due to the tryout dates being finalized by the DFW Hockey Oversight Committee, the Alliance Spring Camp will start one (1) week later than originally planned, and the Orientation Meetings have been postponed one (1) week as well, to Saturday April 8th.   The new Camp Dates have been adjusted accordingly in the schedule below.  The Days of the Week, Locations, and Times for each age group HAVE NOT CHANGED

The Orientation Meetings have been changed to include an Alliance "Open House", with on-ice sessions to "Meet the Coaches" for each age group except Midgets.  There will be no on-ice session for Midgets as a part of the Orientation.   The Schedule for the Orientation & On-Ice Meet the Coaches Sessions has been posted below as well.

Spring Camp - Mites Combined with Squirts at Valley Ranch...

Another change to the camp will be the combining of the Mites and Squirts into one group, which will skate at Valley Ranch on Wednesdays and Saturdays, as the Squirts are currently scheduled.  The Mites will no longer skate at Polar Ice, or on Thursdays and Sundays as originally scheduled.

Saturday, March 11, 2006    Schedules Posted, Sibling Discount & Goalie Info Announced...

The schedules have finally been determined and are now posted, click buttons above for breakdown by the week or by age groups.   We currently may not be able to accommodate all players at the rink of their choice, but additional sessions will be added as registrations allow

A sibling discount  has now been provided for families with more than one player.  If you are registering more than one player in your family, each additional sibling after the first player will cost only $750.00, a $200 savings per additional player.

For the first time in our Spring Camp, we will introduce a program designed specifically for the goaltender, utilizing our goalie coaching staff and the weekly plans as indicated below.   For more information, click HERE...

Counting the three (3) tryout sessions included in the camp fee, our camp has a total of twenty-four (24) hours of ice time, and eight (8) hours of off-ice training for a total of thirty two (32) hours of Alliance training for $950.  This equates to an approximate cost of $29 per hour for professional training and coaching from the Alliance staff, of which 75% of that is on-ice time.

Group sizes will be held as close as possible to twenty five (25) skaters and four (4) goalies per group.  Other camps in the area have more skaters per group, and have a less percentage of on-ice time.

Sunday, February 26, 2006    Spring Camp: Registration Opens, Sessions at Polar Ice Added...

Based on significant feedback from our camp interest survey, as Registration opens today, Alliance announces it has expanded the Spring Camp to include sessions at Polar Ice in Grapevine this year, in addition to the sessions at Valley Ranch.   Sessions at Polar Ice will be held on Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons, while the sessions at Valley Ranch will be held on Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons.

Even though we cannot guarantee the rink at which you will be scheduled to skate, we are asking for you to tell us the rink you prefer when registering.   Based on requests and registrations received at specific age groups, we will try to accommodate as many players as possible at the rink of their choice.   Specific times and session assignments for specific age groups have not yet been determined, and will be announced as soon as they are finalized.

In another first for the Alliance, registration in the camp will now include the cost of three (3) tryout sessions for Alliance tryouts.  These 3 sessions may be any combination of Tier I and/or Tier II tryouts.  Should a player desire to skate in more than 3 tryout sessions, each additional tryout session will cost $20.00.

Payments will be accepted by either on-line credit card or mailed check.   Full Amount for the camp this year, including the three (3) tryout sessions is $950, with a deposit of $475 required to reserve a spot in the camp.  Spots will not be guaranteed until a deposit is received.

Wednesday, February 8, 2006    Alliance Announces 2006 Spring Camp...

Due to the hundreds of requests we received to participate in our Spring Camp last year, the Alliance Youth Hockey Association is pleased to announce our Alliance Spring Training Camp 2006

For eight (8) weeks this spring from April 5th through June 8th, Alliance will provide the opportunity to train with our full staff of professional coaches to those of you that apply early.

“Although we are firm believers that the kids need a break from the game each and every off season, we feel the timing, duration, and make up of our program will compliment and enhance our participants' abilities without detracting from their love or desire to play this wonderful game.”

....Chris Kostopoulos, AYHA Director Of Coaches

Our camp will be conducted and operated directly by ALL current and future Alliance Coaches.    Space will be limited to a workable number of players so our Coaches can spend more time in close individual instruction with each player.   Our camp will focus on individual player skill development & on ice game instruction while continuously instilling the fun of the game

Sessions of the eight week Training Camp will be held both at our home rink and Training Facility, the Dr. Pepper StarCenter in Valley Ranch, as well as at Polar Ice in Grapevine.   In addition, the camp will include the following features:

  • Limited number of players per session

  • Sessions for players born in years 1988 to 1999

  • Two on-Ice Sessions each week

  • One Off-Ice Training Session each week

  • Specific Program for Goalies

  • Opportunity to meet and work with the 2005-2006 Alliance Coaches

“This program was designed specifically to improve each players on-ice capabilities during the spring try-out season, but concludes early enough in the spring to allow for a meaningful, rejuvenating summer for everyone involved – players & coaches!!”

Registration will be limited to a specific number of players per age group, and is only available on-line via the Alliance web site.   Payments will be accepted by either on-line credit card or mailed check.   Full Amount is $950, with a deposit of $475 required to reserve a spot in the camp.  Spots will not be guaranteed until a deposit is received.  If you are registering more than one player in the family, each additional sibling after the first player will cost only $750.00, a $200 savings per additional player.

Mite to Midget Goalie Program

Goalie Focus - Mite, Squirt, PeeWee   Goalie Focus - Bantam & Midget

For the first time in our Spring Camp, we will introduce a program designed specifically for the goaltender, utilizing our goalie coaching staff and the weekly plans as indicated below.  Sessions will be limited to a certain number of goalies, but if the response is great enough, we will add some goalie only sessions.

This program will introduce progressions to enhance the development of his or her game.  Throughout the camp's eight weeks, we will hone in on the technical and tactical play.  The program will start off with a strong base of fundamentals

There are three fundamental groups, PSM (Position Specific Movements), Basic Positioning, and the Initial Save.  Strong movements in the net, creates better positioning, which creates better save executions.  With a strong base of fundamentals, the program will then go into more advanced skill sessions

In the advanced part of the program, we will hone in on control save executions, using Body, gloves, stick, and proper pad usage, and recovery (Post save response).  With strong fundamentals and technical positioning, we will incorporate more speed in the later stages of the program.   Each goaltender must learn to react off his or her technique.  During the next eight weeks we will challenge the goalie to come out of their comfort zone and see... mentally, physically, technically, and tactically, a part of their game they thought they never had.
