Alliance Open House a Huge Success...

The first ever Alliance Open House drew overflowing crowds with hundreds of players and parents flocking to Valley Ranch on Saturday, as Alliance introduced their 2006-2007 Coaches and Teams.    A great response was received from those in attendance to the introduction of the new line of Bulldog PREP Teams.   Additional sheets of ice had to be used for the unexpected high number of players taking advantage of the "Skate with the Coaches" sessions.

It was announced that due to the number of additional players arriving, that registrations for our Spring Camp would be held open indefinitely to allow those players a chance to register.  The Camp starts this Wednesday April 12th, and you can register by clicking HERE...

Alliance Bids Farewell to our Seniors...

The Alliance Youth Hockey Association would like to congratulate our graduating high school seniors.  They graduate in style, holding their NTXHL Championship trophies, to go along with a U18 Texas State Championship.

A special note of recognition goes to Casey Smith and Justin Cooley, two original Alliance players, each completing their 5th straight season wearing the Bulldog on their chest.  Casey was a member of the Inaugural 2001-2002 Alliance Bantam A team, while Justin was on the Inaugural 2001-2002 Alliance PeeWee A team that won the Texoma Championship.

Here is the Alliance 2006 Senior Class....  From left to right are:  James Barry, Casey Smith, Bo Hernandez, Justin Cooley, Adam Socket, Paul Musgrave and Mark Gillings.

Alliance Midget Major AA Wins NTXHL Championship!!!

NTXHL Playoffs:  Alliance Takes Championship with Goal in Overtime...

Midget Major  AA:  Alliance - 2, Texas Aces - 1 (OT):  In a series where each game was decided with the game winning goal coming in the final minute of play, it was only fitting that the Championship game would go to overtime to decide the winner.  In a battle that neither team deserved to lose, it was the Bulldogs that came away with the win, as they scored just 49 seconds into overtime to beat the Texas Aces and win the NTXHL Championship early this morning in Frisco.

After battling to a 1-1 tie through regulation, the Alliance center won a face-off in the Aces' right wing circle, drove hard to the net, and put his own rebound over the left shoulder of the Aces net-minder to give the Bulldogs the win and the Championship banner.  This Bulldog team completed the season with an outstanding 29-15-2 season, which included a Regular Season NTXHL Championship, U18 Tier II State Championship, and the NTXHL Playoff Championship.  Read more HERE...

NTXHL Playoffs:  Bulldogs Fall in Final Minute of Game 2 in Championship Series...

Midget Major  AA:  Texas Aces - 3, Alliance - 2:  The Texas Aces turned it back around on the Bulldogs, completing a comeback of their own, with the game winning goal coming with just 43 seconds remaining in regulation, and won Game 2 to even their Best of 3 Championship Series at 1 game each in the NTXHL Playoffs today in Frisco.  The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead in the first minute of play after some good puck movement found a Bulldog with an open shot.  The Aces would tie the game at 1-1 with just :07 remaining in the 1st period.  Read more HERE...

New Alliance Coach Wins NTXHL Championship...

Congratulations to new Alliance Squirt Prep Coach Jouni Lehtola, who led his Midget Minor AA Stars Select team to the NTXHL Championship today in Frisco.  Another shout-out goes to goalie Krista Tatum, sister of Alliance Midget Minor AAA forward Michael Tatum, who pitched an outstanding 3-0 shutout in the championship game win over the Ice Jets.

NTXHL Playoffs:  Bulldogs Take Game 1 of Championship Series with Last Minute Tally...

Midget Major  AA:  Alliance - 4, Texas Aces - 3:  The Alliance Midget Major AA waited until the last minute, but came through with the game winner with only 27 seconds remaining in regulation to nip the Texas Aces in Game 1 to take a 1-0 lead in their Best of 3 Championship Series of the NTXHL Playoffs tonight in Frisco.

The Bulldogs and the Aces have played several times this season and every game has been close, and this was no exception.  The Aces jumped to a 1-0 lead just under 2 minutes into the game, scoring on a breakaway. The Bulldogs capitalized on a power play opportunity 5 minutes later to tie the score at 1-1.  The Aces closed out the 1st period by scoring on a deflection to take a 2-1 lead at the 1st intermission.   Read more HERE...

Alliance Squirt A Wins NTXHL Championship!!!

Squirt A:  Alliance - 5, Aeros North - 2:  The Bulldogs put a great cap on a great season, with a solid win over the Houston Aeros North in the Game 3 of the Best of 3 NTXHL Championship Series Sunday afternoon in Frisco.

The result of a long season of hard work and fun is now the right to be called the reigning NTXHL Squirt A CHAMPIONS for 2006-2007.   After a disappointing Game 2 loss by a score of 1-0 in a tightly played game the night before, the Dogs came out barking in the Championship Game.  To read more and see pictures, click HERE...

NTXHL Playoffs:

Squirt AA Finishes Great Season with 2nd Place in Championship Series...

Squirt AA:  DJHA - 4, Alliance - 2:  The Bulldogs and DJHA Major '95 resumed their 3-game battle for one final time Sunday afternoon in Frisco, with DJHA opening up a 2-0 gap in the 2nd period that the Bulldogs could not quite close in the Championship Game of the NTXHL Championship Series.  After the Bulldogs would narrow the margin to within 1 two different times, the Penguins responded each time within a minute to widen the lead back to a 2 goals.  Alliance peppered the Penguin goalie all afternoon, but he was up to the task when it counted, and DJHA takes home the NTXHL crown.  The Bulldogs complete an awesome season with a 32-12-3 record.

Bantam AA Finishes with Strong Showing in NTXHL Playoffs...

Bantam  AA:  Alliance - 1, Stars - 0:  The Bulldogs played well in all 4 games this weekend, dropping their first 2 games in OT, and winning their last 2, including a close shutout over the Stars to complete their season and the NTXHL Playoffs Sunday afternoon in Plano.   Alliance finished the season with a positive 24-22-2 record, with nine (9) of those losses being by one goal and/or in overtime, and 4 of them against "AAA" teams.

Midget Minor AA Ends Season with a Win...

Midget Minor  AA:  Alliance - 5, DJHA - 1:  The Bulldogs knew coming into the game they had been eliminated from the playoffs, and it was their last game of the season, but the finished strong with a win over DJHA in Game 4 of the NTXHL Playoffs Sunday afternoon in Valley Ranch.   Alliance finished the season with an impressive 38-14-1 record, was a finalist in 2 tournaments, and captured the NTXHL Regular Season Championship.

Midget Major AA Cruises into Championship Series at 4 and 0...

Midget Major  AA:  Alliance - 3, OKC - 2:  Alliance and OK City battled close all day, but it was an unusual empty netter by the Bulldogs with the game tied that won Game 4 of the NTXHL Playoffs Sunday Afternoon in Euless.   OKC figured the only way they could possibly advance was with a regulation and 3rd period win, so they pulled the goalie late in the game to go for the win.  The Bulldogs take the gift and their 4-0 playoff record into next weekend's Best of 3 NTXHL Championship Series against the Texas Aces.

NTXHL Playoffs Day 2 - Squirts Both Advance to Finals, PeeWees Eliminated...

It was a great weekend for the Alliance Squirt teams, as both the Squirt A and Squirt AA teams placed 2nd in the preliminary rounds of their respective divisions, and will advance to the NTXHL Championship Finals next weekend.  The PeeWee teams were not as fortunate, as both were eliminated from advancing, with the PeeWee AA1 team going 2 and 2, and the PeeWee AA2 team going 1 and 3 on the weekend.

The Squirt A team went undefeated at 4 and 0, and will advance as a result of winning a tie-breaker on goal differential.  They will face the Houston Aeros North in a Best of 3 Series starting next Saturday.  The Squirt AA team earned a spot in the Final Series by virtue of their 3 and 1 mark for the weekend, and will square off against the DJHA Major '95 Penguins, who also went 3 and 1.  Their Best of 3 will also begin next Saturday as well.

Coming this Weekend - NTXHL Playoffs and TAC...

It's that time of the year again, and the playoffs are coming this weekend, as four Alliance Squirt and PeeWee teams hit the ice for a chance to get that last banner of the season.  Three more teams will be at it beginning next weekend, when the Bantams and Midgets play their first playoff games.  The Alliance team schedules have been posted to each team page, and to see information about the playoffs, and links to the complete schedules, click HERE...

Another activity that is happening this weekend is the Texas Affiliate Camp (TAC), which is being hosted by TAHA at the Dr. Pepper StarCenter in Farmers Branch, starting Friday afternoon.   The objective of TAC is to evaluate those players who, in the judgment of their coaches, are the best players at their respective position and age group (Boys: 1989, 1990, 1991 or 1992).

TAC evaluators will select a limited number of players at each age group and position to represent TAHA at the Rocky Mountain District (RMD) Player Development Camp, which is scheduled for May 3-7 at the Olympic Oval in Salt Lake City, Utah.  For more information about TAC, click HERE...

RMD Tier II Championships - Day 3 Update...

Midget Major AA:  Highland Hills - 5, Alliance - 4 (OT):  The Bulldogs once again found themselves in another wild back and forth game, and the result was another heart-breaking overtime loss, this time to the Highland Hills Jaguars in Game 3 of the U18 Tier II Rocky Mountain District Championships in Denver on Saturday.   Alliance fell behind in the first period for the 3rd time in a row, trailing 2-0 before getting the sparks flying.  Just like in Game 2, the Bulldogs rallied to tie the game at 2-2, and then it was back and forth from that point on.  Read more HERE...

RMD Tier II Championships - Day 2 Update...

Midget Major AA:  Arvada - 4, Alliance - 2:  The Bulldogs came from behind again to tie the game, but were unable to grab the lead and fell in Game 2 of the U18 Tier II Rocky Mountain District Championships in Denver late Friday night.  Alliance fell behind in the first period, as Arvada took advantage of their opportunities, mixed with some good fortune.

The first goal was an empty netter, as the Bulldog net-minder was taken out of the play and Arvada capitalized for a 1-0 lead.  They increased their lead with another tally later in the period to take a 2-0 lead into the 2nd frame.

The Bulldogs fought back in the second, scoring on a nice shot from the slot to reduce the lead to one goal at 2-1.  Alliance would bring things even before the period would end, with an excellent slap-shot from the point and through traffic in front for a power play goal to tie the score at 2-2.  The 2nd period would end with the score still tied, and both teams looking to win it in the 3rd period.

Unfortunately for Alliance, it was Arvada doing the scoring in the final period, as they score 2 more goals for the 4-2 win, both coming on the man advantage.  Alliance had its chances but the puck would not bounce their way, as the shots for the game were even, but Alliance spent more time in the penalty box.  The Bulldogs come back for the final preliminary game on Saturday, when they play the Highland Hills Jaguars, who beat Arvada in the Colorado State Championship game in 3 overtimes.

RMD Tier II Championships Update...

Midget Major AA:  Utah - 6, Alliance - 5:  In a high scoring and exciting game, the Bulldogs fell in Overtime to the Utah Jr. Wildcats in Game 1 of the U18 Tier II Rocky Mountain District Championships in Denver.  Utah took an early 3-1 lead in the 1st period, but Alliance narrowed the gap to 3-2 at the end of the opening frame.   Read more HERE...

Kudos to Dallas Teams and DFW Hockey...

The Alliance Youth Hockey Association extends their congratulations to the four Tier I teams that played in the 2006 Rocky Mountain District Tier I Championships this weekend in Phoenix.  All 4 teams from Dallas advanced to at least the Semi-Finals, three made it to the Championship Game of their respective age divisions, and the U18 Dallas Stars won the Championship to advance to the USA Hockey Nationals.

The U14 Alliance Bulldogs, U16 Dallas Ice Jets, U16 Alliance Bulldogs, and the Stars all represented Dallas hockey extremely well, demonstrating the depth of talent in the area, as they come from three different associations within the DFW metroplex.

All of the other associations in Dallas should be proud that they, too, have had a hand in developing some of the players on these teams throughout their youth hockey careers.  Knowing the quality of these teams demonstrates how hard it is to advance to Nationals, with such good competition at the Local, State, and Regional levels.

Next up is the 2006 RMD Tier II Championships this next weekend in Denver.   The U14 Ice Jets and U18 Alliance Bulldogs will represent Texas in Denver, while the U12 Ice Jets will play the Littleton Hawks for the 2006 RMD U12 Tier I Championship here in Dallas March 17-19.

RMD Tier I Championships Day 4 - Bantams Fall In Championship Game...

Bantam AAA:  Phoenix - 3, Alliance - 2: The Bulldogs fell behind 1-0 in the first period, and spent the rest of the game trying to overcome the Phoenix Firebirds, but came up a goal short in the Championship Game of the U14 Tier I Rocky Mountain District Championships in Phoenix on Sunday morning.  The Firebirds scored first, and took a 1-0 lead into the 2nd period.  From that point on, it was toe-to-toe, and goal-for-goal, as the next 2 periods saw each team tally a single goal in each frame.  The Bulldogs finish their outstanding season with an impressive 30-11-3 mark.

Lone Star Wolves & Alliance Announce they are Combining...

The Lone Star Wolves and the Alliance Youth Hockey Association are pleased to announce they have agreed to combine their associations, and will operate under the Alliance Youth Hockey Association name, beginning immediately following the conclusion of the 2005-2006 season.

The Lone Star Wolves have provided quality coaching and travel hockey opportunities to more than 1000 youth hockey players, coaches, and families in their 5 year history, and bring to Alliance a wealth of coaching and administrative experience to further enhance the Alliance offering to its players, families, and the DFW hockey community.

The Wolves and Alliance have agreed that their philosophies, goals, and ideas for youth hockey in the DFW area are the same. The Wolves and Alliance further believe a combined organization will increase their capability to further provide higher quality services to the hockey community, more than they could provide separately.   Read more HERE...

RMD Tier I Championships Update...

Bantam AAA:  Alliance - 8, Phoenix - 4:  After falling behind 2-0 early, Alliance came back with 8 of the next 10 goals to race past the Phoenix Firebirds in Game 1 of the U14 Tier I Rocky Mountain District Championships in Phoenix.   The Bulldogs fought back with 3 goals in the first to take the lead at 3-2 after one period, and then increased their lead to 5-3 after 2 periods.  Alliance would then put it away with 3 more in the final frame for the 8-4 margin of victory.

In a quirky result of only 3 teams in the tournament, the Bulldogs will not play on Friday, but will practice and come back to face the Colorado Thunderbirds on Saturday.  The Thunderbirds play the Firebirds in the only game on Friday.

Midget Minor AAA:  T'Birds '89 - 4, Alliance - 3:  The Bulldogs held the lead for a period, but could not hold on and fell to the Colorado Thunderbirds '89 in  Game 1 of the U16 Tier I Rocky Mountain District Championships in Phoenix.  Alliance struck first with a power play goal at the 9:23 mark of the 1st period, and carried the 1-0 lead into the second.  The T'Birds would respond quickly, with 3 straight goals in just over 2 minutes, 2 of the power play variety and 1 during 4 on 4 action to take a 3-1 lead.

Alliance came right back to score an even strength goal less than a minute later to make it 3-2 headed into the final period of play.  The Bulldogs would then tie the game at 3-3 in the first minute of the 3rd, but Colorado would answer back with the game winner at the 10:46 mark.  Next game for the Bulldogs will be Friday at 12:30pm against the Dallas Ice Jets.

With both teams looking to become the first Texas teams to repeat as RMD Champions in their divisions, the Alliance Bantam AAA and Midget Minor AAA teams left today for Phoenix and the 2006 Tier I USA Hockey Rocky Mountain District Championships.

What is the Difference between Tier I and AAA?

With all the buzz around town regarding Tier I and AAA hockey, a little education might be in order, and with the assistance of USA Hockey, we hope to help out in that area.   If you are confused by, or do not understand the meaning of the terms Tier I and AAA, they are not the same, and many people within the DFW hockey community believe they mean the same thing – they do not.   Read more HERE...

Alliance to Expand Tier I Program…

Continuing to build upon the foundation we have developed over the last five years, Alliance announces that we look forward to the 2006-2007 Season and expanding our very successful Tier I AAA and Tier II AA programs.   Specifically at the Tier I level, we have competed the last 2 years on a National basis at the U14 and U16 age groups, sending a team at each age group to the 2005 Tier I USA Hockey National Championships

This season, we are sending 3 more teams to the 2006 Rocky Mountain District Championships, 2 at the Tier I level, 1 at the Tier II level, and all with a chance to advance to the 2006 USA Hockey National Championships

In just the past 3 seasons, Alliance has won 10 State Championships, 5 Rocky Mountain District Championships (2 at Tier I, and 3 at Tier II), and sent 5 teams to the USA Hockey National Championships, with 2 teams each bringing home a National Championship Bronze Medal.

In the upcoming 2006-2007 season, we will be expanding our experience and success to another Tier I AAA offering, this time at the U12 PeeWee age group.

There are a couple of associations in the DFW area that would have you believe that one organization should be created for the purpose of developing players at the AAA level.  Most organizations that we have talked to in the DFW area, and there are 13, do not agree that only one organization should develop AAA players.

At Alliance, we believe that competition at a high level, both on the ice and off it, is vital to the success of hockey players, teams, and organizations.  It is a good thing that there is choice when it comes to selecting an association to play with, specifically at the Tier I level.   Having only one Tier I organization in the DFW area would be detrimental to the development of hockey players in the area, as one organization cannot possibly be the best fit for every player.

The same two organizations that stated there should be one organization to develop AAA players has also stated that they have agreed to place all of the area’s top players within their organization.

Last time we checked, all players have freedom of choice to choose where they try out and play hockey in the DFW area.  Fortunately, no one has the authority to place all of the area's top players within one organization.

As demonstrated by our significant accomplishments indicated above, we strongly believe that many, if not a majority, of the area’s top players have been playing within the Alliance organization for the past few years, at both the Tier I and Tier II levels.   We believe and expect these top players will continue to play at Alliance in the future, as long as we keep providing the quality coaching and training we have become known nationwide to provide.

If you are an elite player, or want to become one, we encourage you to check out our organization, talk to our players and parents, and choose the organization that best fits your needs.  Alliance will continue to attract top players and families as a result of our quality coaching and training, and pursue National Championships at both the Tier I AAA and Tier II AA levels.

Spring Camp: Registration Opens, Sessions at Polar Ice Added...

Based on significant feedback from our camp interest survey, as Registration opens today, Alliance announces it has expanded the 2006 Spring Camp to include sessions at Polar Ice in Grapevine this year, in addition to the sessions at Valley Ranch.   Sessions at Polar Ice will be held on Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons, while the sessions at Valley Ranch will be held on Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons.

Even though we cannot guarantee the rink at which you will be scheduled to skate, we are asking for you to tell us the rink you prefer when registering.   Based on requests and registrations received at specific age groups, we will try to accommodate as many players as possible at the rink of their choice.   Specific times and session assignments for specific age groups have not yet been determined, and will be announced as soon as they are finalized.

In another first for the Alliance, registration in the camp will now include the cost of three (3) tryout sessions for Alliance tryouts.  These 3 sessions may be any combination of Tier I and/or Tier II tryouts.  Should a player desire to skate in more than 3 tryout sessions, each additional tryout session will cost $20.00.

Payments will be accepted by either on-line credit card or mailed check.   Full Amount for the camp this year, including the three (3) tryout sessions is $950, with a deposit of $475 required to reserve a spot in the camp.  Spots will not be guaranteed until a deposit is received.

Bulldogs Take Down Stars in Exhibition...

PeeWee AA1:  Alliance -6, Dallas Stars Selects -2:  Bulldogs jumped up early on the Stars Select, and kept them at bay in a scrimmage Tuesday night at Farmers Branch, earning a win and some satisfaction, given their last meeting in the State playoffs.   The Bulldogs wasted no time in scoring on the first and second shifts, to set a strong tone for the game. The first goal came at 14:25 from a nice pass in front, to a Bulldog that quickly backhanded the puck high into the net to make it 1-0.  Read more HERE...

Alliance Squirt AA Wins President's Day Championship!!!

Squirt AA:  Alliance - 3, Calif. Stars - 1:   With their win over the California Stars on Monday in Colorado Springs, the Bulldogs went undefeated for the tournament at 5 and 0, and return home with the Championship of the 29th Annual Presidents' Day Hockey Tournament.   The win was their 6th in a row, was also their 16th win in the last 18 games, and they head back to Texas with an impressive 28-9-2 record for the season.  The Bulldogs also have gained much needed momentum heading into the NTXHL playoffs later in March.

Bulldogs Drop 3rd Place Game, Finish 4th

Squirt A:  Burnaby - 6, Alliance - 3:   Two late goals in the final 40 seconds of the first period was a blow from which the Bulldogs could not recover, and they fell to the Burnaby Winter Club of Burnaby, British Columbia in the 3rd Place Game of the 29th Annual Presidents' Day Hockey Tournament in Colorado Springs on Monday morning.

With the score at 2-1 late in the 1st period, the 2 goals made it 4-1 Burnaby headed into the 2nd, and from there the teams would trade 2 goals each for the final 6-3 score.  After facing some tough competition in Colorado, the Bulldogs return home with a 28-13-2 season record, and begin preparing for the upcoming NTXHL playoffs in March.

Bulldogs Fall in Semi-Final to San Jose

Squirt A:  San Jose - 5, Alliance - 1:   Alliance’s run for the title ended on Sunday, as they lost their semi-final game of the 29th Annual Presidents' Day Hockey Tournament to the San Jose Jr. Sharks in Colorado Springs.  The loss dropped the Bulldogs to 2 and 2 in the tournament going into their consolation game against the Burnaby Winter Club of Burnaby, British Columbia on Monday.  Read more HERE...

Alliance Stays Unbeaten with Championship Game Next...

Squirt AA:  Alliance - 3, Phoenix - 1:   The Bulldogs kept their tournament mark perfect at 4 and 0, and as a result of their Semi-Final win over the Phoenix Jr. Coyotes, will play in the Championship Game of the 29th Annual Presidents' Day Hockey Tournament on Monday morning in Colorado Springs.  Alliance will play the winner of the other Semi-Final game between the California Stars and the Anchorage Northstars, with the game set to be played at Colorado College.

PeeWees Finish Strong with Win over/in Las Vegas...

PeeWee AA2:  Alliance - 8, Las Vegas - 1:  The Bulldogs finished strong with back to back good wins, and beat the host Las Vegas Outlaws in their final game of the Presidents Day Tourney in Las Vegas, Nevada on Sunday.  Alliance just missed out being part of a tie-breaker to advance to the final, as they fell into 3rd place in their division by just one point.  The Bulldogs had a good offensive showing, scoring 16 goals on the weekend, 2nd most in the 5-team division, and just 3 less than the division champion San Diego Gulls.

Midget Majors Rebound from Rough Start to Take Bronze Medal...

Midget Major AA: Alliance - 4, Potsdam - 1:  After a rough start against tough competition, the Bulldogs came back with 2 straight wins, including the 3rd Place game, and come home with the Bronze Medal from Montreal, Quebec and the Can/Am Tournament.   The last game was a re-match of an earlier 4-2 loss against the Potsdam Sandstoners (NY), but this time Alliance was ready.  The Bulldogs took control early and never trailed en route to the win.  The game was highlighted (or low-lighted, depending on which team you were on), when the Bulldogs scored a very unusual and rare empty net goal in the first period.  The Potsdam goalie was making an equipment repair, when the referee lost patience and allowed play to continue without him.  The Sandstoners were without a backup net-minder, thus some Bulldog got a gift tally in the scorebook.

Alliance Earns Semi-Final with Win in Colorado

Squirt A:  Alliance - 8, LA Jr. Kings - 3:  The Bulldogs rebounded from their only loss in the tournament and raced away from the LA Jr. Kings to win Game 3 of the 29th Annual Presidents' Day Hockey Tournament Saturday morning in Colorado Springs.  The win earns the Bulldogs a spot in the Semi-Finals against the San Jose Jr. Sharks on Sunday.

Bulldogs Roll into Semis with 3-0 Tourney Mark...

Squirt AA:  Alliance - 7, Colo. Springs - 0:   The Squirt AA were not very nice to their hosts, as they cruised past the Colorado Springs Tigers for a shutout win in Game 3 the 29th Annual Presidents' Day Hockey Tournament Saturday in Colorado Springs.  The Bulldogs are now 3 and 0 in the tournament, and are in the Semi-Finals.  Their opponent had not been determined at the time of this posting.

PeeWees Fall, then Recover for Split in Vegas...

PeeWee AA2:  Alliance - 3, Calif. Stars - 1:  The Bulldogs hung in there for 2 periods, keeping the game tied at 1-1, and then pulled away with 2 goals in the final period to come away with the win over the California Stars in Game 3 of the Presidents Day Tourney in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday afternoon.  The win keeps open the possibility of advancing with a win over the host Las Vegas Outlaws on Sunday morning.

PeeWee AA2:  Colorado - 2, Alliance - 1:  Bulldog penalties continued to be a key factor in the Presidents Day Tourney in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Alliance fell for the 2nd time in 2 tries, this time against the Colorado Rampage on Saturday morning.  After allowing 4 power play goals in Game 1, the Bulldogs allowed only 2 in this game, but it was enough for the Rampage to come away with a one-goal margin of victory.  Alliance will try to stay out of the sin bin later Saturday when they go against the California Stars in the afternoon.

Midget Majors Gain Bronze Medal Game with Win...

Midget Major AA:  Alliance - 4, Halifax - 2:  After falling to tough competition in their first 3 games in Montreal, Quebec at the Can/Am Tournament, the Bulldogs broke through with a hard-earned win over the Halifax Hawks of Nova Scotia in Game 4 to earn a spot in the Bronze Medal game on Sunday.   Alliance fell behind 2-0 in the 2nd period before coming back to score 4 consecutive goals for the come-from-behind victory.  Alliance fell 4-0 earlier in the day to the Semiahmoo Ravens of British Columbia.

Bulldogs Split 2 on Day 1 in Colorado

Squirt A:  Jr. Canadians - 3, Alliance - 1:  The Bulldogs appeared to run out of steam in their second game of the day, and the Jr. Canadians from Midnapore, British Columbia scored a goal in each period to come away with the win in Game 2 of the 29th Annual Presidents' Day Hockey Tournament Friday afternoon in Colorado Springs.  After a strong showing in Game 1 earlier in the day, the Bulldogs looked like the mile high altitude may have taken its toll on the boys from Texas.   Read more HERE...

Squirt A:  Alliance - 8, KC Jr. Outlaws - 1:  The Bulldogs scored 3 goals in the final few minutes of the opening period, and used that momentum to put the game out of reach in the second on their way to a convincing win over the KC Jr. Outlaws in their opening game of the 29th Annual Presidents' Day Hockey Tournament Friday morning in Colorado Springs.  After taking a 1-0 lead at the 7:43 mark of the 1st period, Alliance blitzed the Outlaws late in the period to take a 4-0 lead into the 2nd period of play.  Read more HERE...

Bulldogs Take 2nd Win at President's Day Tourney...

Squirt AA:  Alliance - 5, Anchorage - 3:   The Squirt AA made it 2 in a row, as they beat the visitors from the great northwest in Game 2 the 29th Annual Presidents' Day Hockey Tournament Friday in Colorado Springs.  The Northstars boys from the largest and most northern state (that's Alaska for those of you in Rio Linda) found out the southern boys from the second largest state can play on ice as well.  The Bulldogs will now take their 2-0 record into Game 3 against the host Colorado Springs Tigers Saturday afternoon.

Alliance Falls in Las Vegas Opener...

PeeWee AA2:  San Diego - 7, Alliance - 4:  The PeeWee AA2 team finally got started for the weekend in the Presidents Day Tourney in Las Vegas, Nevada, and drop Game 1 to the San Diego Gulls in a high scoring game on Friday afternoon.  The Bulldogs will try to rebound in Game 2, when they square off against the Colorado Rampage early Saturday morning, followed by a match against the California Stars in the afternoon.

Midget Majors Find Going Tough North of the Border...

Midget Major AA: In the aftermath of their State Championship, the Bulldogs found the going tough north of the border, as they drop their first 2 games in Montreal, Quebec at the Can/Am Tournament.  Game 1 saw them fall 6-2 to the Capital Crusaders of Ottawa.  They then came back tough against the Potsdam Sandstoners (NY), only to lose a close one at 2-1.  Alliance will try to get back on track Saturday, when they face the Semiahmoo, BC Ravens, followed by a game against the Halifax Hawks of Nova Scotia.

Four Alliance Teams Scatter Across North America this Weekend...

After watching the older teams battle for the State Championships the last 2 weekends, it's the Squirt's turn to take the spotlight, as both Bulldog Squirt teams are participating in the 29th Annual Presidents' Day Hockey Tournament this weekend in Colorado Springs.   The Squirt AA have one game under their belt already (a win, see below), and the Squirt A hits the ice with 2 games on Friday, first against the KC Jr. Outlaws, followed by the Jr. Canadians from Midnapore, British Columbia later in the day.

The PeeWee AA2 team went just a bit further west, as they are in the desert of Las Vegas, Nevada for another Presidents Day Tourney in the city that never sleeps.  They play one game on Friday, against the San Diego Gulls, before coming back to play 2 more on Saturday.

The Midget Major AA team is visiting our neighbors to the north, as they are in Montreal, Quebec for the Can/Am Tournament.  The Majors will be trying to maintain their level of play that took them to a State Championship victory last weekend.

Alliance Celebrates Valentine's Day with Win...

PeeWee AA1:  Alliance - 7, DJHA '94 AA - 3:   In their second league meeting, Bulldogs beat the DJHA '94 AA Penguins Tuesday night in Frisco to help secure the third place position in the NTXHL standings.   The Penguins took the Bulldogs by surprise at the opening face off, by winning it and then skating through the Bulldog line and scoring in 11 seconds flat to take an immediate 1-0 lead. That apparently was all the wake-up call the Bulldogs needed, as they would rally after receiving a penalty (11:42), and score 22 seconds later on a shorthanded goal, starting with a Bulldog skating in on the right side, and back-handing the puck along the ice towards the Penguins goalie, who was not anticipating the low shot, and in it went to tie the game 1-1 Read more HERE...

Alliance Wins Two State Championships!!!

Midget Minor AAA:  Alliance - 4, Ice Jets - 3 (OT):    After falling behind the Ice Jets 3-0 late in the 2nd period, things looked bleak for the Bulldogs.   But a goal with only 1:06 left in the 2nd to make it 3-1 going into the final period kick-started the Bulldogs to a stunning 3-goal comeback that ended with an overtime win and their 2nd consecutive Tier I U16 State Championship.   Read updated report HERE...   See more celebration pictures HERE...

Midget Major AA:  Alliance - 4, Aeros - 2:    Alliance beat the Aeros in back-to-back games on Sunday, and take home the Tier II U18 State Championship for the 3rd consecutive year.     After a scoreless first period, the Bulldogs fell behind 1-0 early in the 2nd, but tied it up shortly thereafter for a 1-1 score at the 7:08 mark.  The teams would trade goals again within 10 seconds of one another at the 5:57 and 5:47 marks to make the score 2-2.  Read more HERE...

State Tournament Results...

Tier II U14:  Alliance Drops First 2 at State...

Bantam AA:  Stars - 4, Alliance - 3:   The Stars broke a 3-3 tie with a power play goal with only 2:09 remaining in the 3rd period, and with the win stayed in contention to advance to the Championship of the Tier II U14 Division at the 2006 Texas State Championships being held at Polar Ice in the Grapevine Mills Mall.   The Stars can advance to the final with a win over the Ice Jets on Sunday morning, and with the loss, Alliance has been eliminated from contention of advancing.

Bantam AA:  Ice Jets - 3, Alliance - 0:    The Ice Jets broke open a close 1-0 game with 2 goals early in the 3rd period, and made it stand up for a shutout win over Alliance in the first game for both teams of the Tier II U14 Division at the 2006 Texas State Championships being held at Polar Ice in the Grapevine Mills Mall.   Read more HERE...

Tier II U16:  Alliance Splits 2 on Day One at State...

Midget Minor AA:  Stars - 6, Alliance - 1:    The Stars took a 1-0 lead into the 2nd period, and extended it to 4-1 after 2 periods, and Alliance never recovered in the second game for each team in the Tier II U16 Division of the 2006 Texas State Championships on Saturday afternoon.   After Alliance cut the lead to 3-1 on a power play with just 1:44 left in the 2nd, they remained on the power play, threatening to make it a one-goal game.  The Stars would have none of it, and got the goal back with a shorthanded breakaway tally to bring the margin back to three at 4-1 with 1:05 left in the second period.  The Stars would add 2 more in the final frame to stay in contention for the final.

Midget Minor AA:  Alliance - 4, DJHA - 2:    The DJHA Penguins kept responding, but came up short at the end, as Alliance held on late, adding an empty netter to ice the game in the Tier II U16 Division opener for both teams at the 2006 Texas State Championships being held at Polar Ice in the Grapevine Mills Mall.   The Bulldogs took leads of 1-0 at the end of the 1st period and 2-1 at the end of the 2nd, only to have the Penguins come back and tie the score each time, the last time making it 2-2 on their first shot of the final frame.

Tier I U16:  Alliance Stays Alive with OT Win in Game 2...

Midget Minor AAA:  Alliance - 2, Ice Jets - 1 (OT):    In a complete reversal from last night, both teams played tight defense and got outstanding goaltending, but the Bulldogs stay alive in the Best of 3 Series with the game winning goal just 1:07 into the first overtime.  Alliance came out ready to redeem themselves for the Game 1 loss, and were all over the Ice Jets with 10 shots to the Jets 1 in the first period.  It appeared the Jets would survive the flurry, but Alliance took a 1-0 lead on a power play goal with only 1:59 remaining in the opening frame on a shot from the point along the ice that was re-directed in front and past the Jet goalie.  Read more HERE...

Tier II U18 Bulldogs Control Own Fate at State...

Midget Major AA:  Alliance - 3, Aces - 2:    In another really tight game, Alliance finally decided there were already enough ties for the day, and scored with only 28 seconds remaining in the final period to take home a win in the Tier II U18 Division of the 2006 Texas State Championships on Saturday night.   Alliance can advance to the Final with a tie or a win over the Aeros on Sunday morning.

Midget Major AA:  Alliance - 2, Austin - 2:    No one could help but think of the U12 Chaos from last weekend caused by a bunch of ties, but someone forgot to tell the Midget Majors, as Alliance and Austin battled to a tie in the Tier II U18 Division opener for both teams at the 2006 Texas State Championships being held at Polar Ice in the Grapevine Mills Mall.

State Tournament - Tier I U16:  Alliance Drops Game 1...

Midget Minor AAA:  Ice Jets - 7, Alliance - 4:    Despite an early advantage in energy and shots, the Bulldogs fell behind 2-0 less than 8 minutes in, spent the rest of the game chasing the Ice Jets, and were unable to overtake them and fell in Game 1 of their Best of 3 Series Friday night at the 2006 Texas State Championships being held at Polar Ice in the Grapevine Mills Mall.   The Jets now take their 1-0 series lead into Game 2 Saturday night, with a chance to take the State Championship with a win in the 8:00pm start.   Read more HERE...

State Tournament - 5 Champions to be Crowned this Weekend...

Tier II U12 State Tournament - Unbelievable Game, Scenerio:  All 4 Teams Tied After Pool Play...

PeeWee AA1:  Alliance - 2, Hitmen - 2:  The Bulldogs came within 2 tenths of a second (:00.2) of winning Game 3 and advancing to the Final of the  Tier II U12 Texas State Championships Sunday morning at Polar Ice in Grapevine.  But the Houston Hitmen somehow scored in the literally the last second to earn a tie, and with the Ice Jets and Stars also playing to a 2-2 tie on the other rink, the State Championships were thrown into unknown territory as all 4 teams still remained tied at the end of pool play.   Read more HERE...

After following the tie-breaking procedures and still coming up empty, a call to the USA Hockey headquarters in Colorado resulted in a round-robin shootout to determine the finalists.  In not the best way, but apparently the only way, the shoot-out that ensued determined that the Houston Hitmen will play the Ice Jets '93 AA in the Championship Game to decide the Texas representative to the Tier II U12 Rocky Mountain District Championships in Denver March 9-12.

Alliance Splits with Aeros North

Squirt A:  Aeros North - 3, Alliance - 1:  In a rematch of Saturday's NTXHL game between the Bulldogs and the Houston Aeros North, the Dogs were unable to repeat their results from Saturday and fell to the Aeros at Valley Ranch.  With first place within 2 points, Alliance just couldn't bring home the victory, and trail the league leader by two points with 2 games to play next weekend to end the regular season.  Read more HERE...

Bantam AAA Takes 2 of 3 with Shattuck St. Mary's...

Bantam AAA:  Bantam AAA - 7, Shattuck - 6:   The Bulldogs took an early commanding lead, only to lose it in a drastic 2nd period, but recovered in the 3rd for a wild win in Game 3 over Shattuck St. Mary's in Faribault, Minnesota on Sunday morning.  Alliance took an early 4-1 lead from the 1st period into the 2nd frame, but collapsed under the weight of a 5-goal Shattuck 2nd period attack to trail 6-5 entering the last period of play.  The Bulldogs then put the brakes on the Shattuck offense, and tallied 2 more themselves for the dramatic win and took 2 of 3 in the weekend exhibition series.

Bulldogs Beat Aeros North in League Match

Squirt A:  Alliance - 3, Aeros North - 2:  The Bulldogs came out flying, as the coach told the players before the opening draw that their first shot could not be stopped by the Aeros net-minder, and they rode that energy to a NTXHL win over the Houston Aeros North in Valley Ranch.  The team made that motivation a reality, as they won the opening draw and stormed in for a nice deke and backhand shot by the center 17 seconds into the game for a 1-0 lead.  Read more HERE...

Alliance Draws a Tie with Wolves…

Bantam AA:  Bantam AA - 4, Lone Star Wolves - 4:  The Bulldogs let a win get away from them on Saturday at Valley Ranch, and come away with a NTXHL tie against the Lone Star Wolves.   Lone Star scored first on the power play, with 3:07 remaining in the 1st period for a 1-0 lead.   The Bulldogs countered that with a power play goal of their own with 1:13 remaining in the 1st to tie the game at 1-1.   The Bulldogs would score three unanswered goals to take a 4-1 lead with 11:48 remaining in the game.   However, the Wolves didn't quit, and would get three goals in the last period, with the final one at 1:57 to salvage a 4-4 tie with the Bulldogs.

Alliance is set to defend their 2005 State Championships in the Tier I U16, Tier II U14, Tier II U16, and Tier II U18 Divisions.  The Tier I U14 Texas representative will once again this year be the Alliance Bulldogs, as they are the only Bantam Tier I team in Texas.

Bulldogs Fall Short Late to Ice Jets ‘93...

PeeWee AA1:  Ice Jets’93 - 4, Alliance - 2:   “Should-of”, “Could-of”, but “Would not”.  The Bulldogs played the Ice Jets '93 AA close (Wednesday night) right up to the final minutes, doing a lot of things well, but strong Ice Jet goaltending kept them at bay, and eventually the Bulldogs would self-destruct late, allowing three Ice Jet goals in just over four minutes of play.  Read more HERE...

The Alliance Bulldogs defended their 2005 Championship, capturing the 2006 Dallas Cup Tier I AAA Championship Game with a 4-1 win Sunday afternoon over the Colorado Thunderbirds '89 in a tight game decided with tough defense, good penalty killing and outstanding goaltending

Both teams came into the final undefeated, and it was the first win this season over the 5th Ranked T'Birds in 4 tries for the Bulldogs, who lost to these same Thunderbirds in the final of their King of the Rockies (KOR) Tournament back in October.  This tournament was also a warm-up for the 2006 Rocky Mountain District Championships, as all 6 RMD Tier I U16 teams played in this year's Dallas Cup.  The 11th Ranked Bulldogs finish the tournament 5-0-0, and improved their overall season record to 27-11-5.

Bulldogs Fall to Aces in NTXHL Action

Squirt A:  Texas Aces - 5, Alliance - 1:  The Bulldogs played strong in the first period but struggled to control the puck the rest of the game and fall to the Texas Aces this morning in NTXHL action at the ITC in Richardson.  The Aces scored on their first shot of the game at 9:28 in the first period to go up 1-0, on a wrap around wide and flip shot over the Dogs Goalie.  Alliance scored a power play goal at 3:19 in the first to tie it at 1-1, with a steal in the neutral zone by the right wing and a skate in wide right, and great pass across the crease to the left wing for a top shelf one-timer.  Even though the Dogs out-shot the Aces 7-2 in the period, the period ended tied 1-1Read more HERE...

Dallas Cup Full Swing in Day 2...

The Dallas Cup Midget Hockey tournament gained momentum in Day 2, with 16 games being played, and all of them presenting entertainment and excitement in their own way.  The Championship game finalists were determined in Tier II, and it was significantly narrowed down in the Tier I Division.

Tier I AAA Update:  The Defending Champion Alliance Bulldogs continued to win, with 2 more victories to go to 3-0 for the tournament and will advance to the Championship Game with a tie or win Sunday morning.  The Colorado Thunderbirds '89 also remain unbeaten at 3-0, but it took a narrow call and a game winning goal with less than 1 second remaining against Russell Stover for them to advance to the final.

Tier II AA Update:  The games at Polar Ice in Grapevine were just as exciting, and a surprising entry into the Championship Game will be the Houston Wild, who have played extremely well in victories over the host Alliance Bulldogs and the Long Beach Ice Dogs.   It won't get any easier for the Wild, as they will face the #1 Ranked Chicago Flames in the Final.

Alliance Nips Hitmen for League Win

Squirt A:  Alliance - 3, Hitmen - 2:  The Bulldogs continue their strong play and win NTXHL Game 17 by a score of 3-2 over the Houston Hitmen at the Deja Blue Rink in Frisco.  Alliance opened the game with an even strength goal at 9:17 to take a 1-0 lead in the first period, with an aggressive steal by the center in the neutral zone and quick shot from the right mid-slot that beat the Hitmen goalie top shelf.  Read more HERE...

Dallas Cup Gets Started...

The Dallas Cup Midget Hockey tournament got under way today, with plenty of fast paced action.  The Tier I AAA Division teams each played once at Valley Ranch, and the Tier II AA Division teams got in a full day with each team playing twice at Polar Ice in Grapevine;

Tier I AAA Update:  The Defending Champion Alliance Bulldogs started the day, and came away with a 5-2 win over a pesky Omaha Energy squad in a penalty filled tournament opener.  The other local team, the Dallas Ice Jets, followed that up with an identical 5-2 win over the Phoenix Firebirds, after jumping ahead 5-0 on the strength of 4 power play goals.

The Colo. Thunderbirds '89 then shut out the St. Louis Jr. Blues 3-0, and Russell Stover did the same to Southern Ice Lightning 4-0.  Day 1 came to a very competitve and intense end with a 1-1 tie between Colorado Outlaws and the Colo. Thunderbirds '90.

Tier II AA Update:  The boys at Polar Ice in Grapevine hit it hard and more often than their AAA counterparts, as each team got in 2 games on Friday to quickly set the tone for the tournament.  The Alliance Bulldogs did not have a good day, dropping both games, including the opener against the #1 Ranked Chicago Flames in a game that wasn't decided until 2 late Chicago goals made a close one look worse than it really was.  The Long Beach Ice Dogs were the other big winner, coming up with 2 wins also to join Chicago at the top of the heap after one day of action.

There was no scoring in the first, only one penalty (Wolves), and shots were Bulldogs 9 and Wolves 7.  Read more HERE...

Bantam AAA Wins Cleveland Barons Cup!!!

Bantam AAA:  Bantam AAA - 5, Cleveland - 0:   The Bulldogs capped a great weekend by earning redemption for their only non-win of the tournament, shutting out the host Cleveland Barons in the Championship Game of the Cleveland Barons Cup Sunday in Cleveland, Ohio.   The Barons had put the only blemish on the Alliance tourney record with a 5-5 tie in Game 2 on Saturday morning, but this time it was all Bulldogs, as they finish the tournament with a 4-0-1 mark and return home with a very impressive 26-9-3 record for the season.  Alliance had entered into the Barons Cup with a #16 National Ranking.

Bantam AAA:  Bantam AAA - 4, Phoenix - 2:  The Bulldogs needed a win to advance to the final, and they squeaked this one out, beating the Phoenix Firebirds in Game 4 of the Cleveland Barons Cup Sunday in Cleveland, Ohio.   Alliance was clinging to a 1-goal lead at 3-2 late in the final period of play, and with an empty net tally sealed the win and a berth in the Championship Game later in the day.  Alliance will face the host Cleveland Barons , whom they tied 5-5 in Game 2 on Friday.

Alliance Takes Austin 2-1 Again

Squirt A:  Alliance – 2, Austin - 1:  It's DEJA VU ALL OVER AGAIN.  The Bulldogs played the Austin Roadrunners for the second time this weekend, and once again win by a 2-1 margin.   The first period was a repeat of Saturday's game, as it ended 0-0.  Austin got the first goal today and a 1-0 lead on an even strength tally at 8:49 in the second, on an open mid slot shot that slipped past the Alliance goalie.  Just 4 minutes later, on a Bulldog power play, the left wing stole the puck in the neutral zone, and swerved in for a high mid slot shot over the Austin goalie's blocker and a 1-1 tie to end the second period.   Read more HERE...

Bulldogs Back in League Action with a Win...

Squirt AA:  Alliance - 5, Stars Select - 3:   Today's NTXHL game in Valley Ranch was a physical battle for both teams, with the Bulldogs coming away with the win over the Stars Select Major.  The Stars accumulated 12 penalties and Alliance had 8 to make it a special teams affair.  Alliance started the scoring in the 1st with a power play goal at the 1:53 mark to take a 1-0 lead.  Read more HERE...

Squirt A Drops Austin in Close League Tilt

Squirt A:  Alliance – 2, Austin - 1:  The last time the Bulldogs squared off against the Austin Roadrunners,  it was a close 2-1 game with Austin coming out on top.  This time, Alliance turned the tables in another tight NTXHL contest between these two teams at Valley Ranch on Saturday morning.  After a scoreless first period, the Bulldogs opened up the scoring with an even strength goal to make it 1-0 at the 7:57 mark of the 2nd frame.  The Roadrunners responded just over 3 minutes later on a nice shot from the right wing that beat the goalie blocker side top shelf to tie it up at 1-1 with 4:36 remaining in the 2nd period.  Read more HERE...

Bulldogs Shut Out Hawks in NTXHL Action…

PeeWee AA1:  Alliance - 4, Ice Hawks - 0:  The Bulldogs are in the mode of recovering from a tough weekend, and they showed it on Saturday, as they shut out the Dallas Ice Hawks in NTXHL action at Valley Ranch.  The Hawks handed the Bulldogs a 3-2 loss in their only meeting back in November, but this time the Alliance boys came to play, and it showed as they scored in each period of play and kept the Hawks off the scoreboard with good defense and goaltending.  More on this game as it is received...

Bantam AAA Goes to 2-0-1 in Cleveland…

Bantam AAA:  Bantam AAA - 4, Pittsburgh Predators - 1:  Alliance came back strong Saturday afternoon in their second tilt of the tournament against a team from Pittsburgh, in Game 3 of the Cleveland Barons Cup.   This time it was the Pittsburg Hornets that suffered defeat at the hands of the boys from Texas, who have now been unofficially declared the Pennsylvania State Champions - well, at least "City" champions???   Game 4 of the tourney has the Bulldogs squaring off against the Phoenix Firebirds on Sunday, with playoff opportunities in sight with a win.  The Bulldogs beat the Firebirds 6-2 in their only meeting of the season way back in September.

Bantam AAA:  Bantam AAA - 5, Cleveland - 5:  The Bulldogs face the hosts in Game 2 of the Cleveland Barons Cup Saturday morning, and nothing was decided, as they came away with a "sister-kisser" against the Cleveland Barons in Cleveland, Ohio.  Alliance will come back in the afternoon to face the Pittsburg Predators in the nightcap.

Bantam AA:  Bantam AA - 5, Texas Aces - 4:  The Bulldogs took the early lead in this State Tournament "playdown game" by getting on the board first with 7:19 remaining in the 1st period for an initial 1-0 lead.   However, the Aces came back at the 6:09 mark with a goal of their own to tie the game at 1-1.   The Bulldogs would come back right before the end of the opening frame to light the lamp with 1:12 remaining in the 1st period to re-take the lead at 2-1 headed into the 2nd period of play.   Read more HERE...

Squirt AA Wins Texas Star Winter Classic in a Shootout!!!

Squirt AA:  Alliance - 3, Florida - 2 (SO):   In a very exciting, fast paced, back and forth game, it was fitting that it had to go to a shootout, and Alliance made the plays when they had to, beating the Florida Jr. Everblades and winning the Squirt Red Championship of the Texas Star Winter Classic Tournament in Farmers Branch on Monday. In this rematch of a 4-1 Everblades win on Saturday, the Bulldogs took the first lead on a goal with only 1:55 remaining in the 1st period to go up 1-0.  Read more HERE...

Squirt A Wins to go 3-1-0 in Winter Classic…

Squirt A:  Alliance – 2, Aeros South - 0:  The Bulldogs completed a good run in the Texas Star Winter Classic tournament with a nice shutout win over the Houston Aeros South Monday morning in Farmers Branch.  Alliance got even strength goals in each of the first 2 periods of play and held the Aeros to only 11 shots on goal, while collecting 24 shots for themselves.  The win made the Bulldogs 3-1-0 in the tournament and brings the Alliance overall season record to 22-7-2, as they prepare to get back into league action next weekend.

PeeWee AA1 Fall Late to Hitmen…

PeeWee AA1:  Houston Hitmen - 2, Alliance - 1:  In a consolation game of the Texas Star Winter Classic tournament in Euless Monday, the Bulldogs played toe-to-toe with the Houston Hitmen for two strong periods, but the Hitmen would take the third, scoring two goals to clinch the win.  Play in the first period was very even, with both teams matching effort and skill.  There was no scoring, even though the Bulldogs had the edge on opportunities by out-shooting the Hitmen 8 to 3.  Read more HERE...

PeeWee AA2 Takes Down San Antonio in Friendship Contest…

PeeWee AA2:  Alliance - 7, San Antonio - 0:    The Bulldogs continued their stellar play and momentum from a good game earlier in the weekend against Arapahoe, and pitched a shutout in a Friendship game win over the San Antonio Rampage Monday in Valley Ranch.  As indicated by the score, the defense played extremely well, and the offense lit the lamp early and often.  Alliance scored 3 times in the opening frame, and took their a 3-0 lead into the 2nd.  They increased their margin to 4-0 with another tally in the 2nd period, and then finished strong with 3 more in the final period for the final 7-0 score.

Bantam AA Wins Final Texas Star Game…

Bantam AA:  Alliance – 1, Colo.Eagles - 0:  Continuing their defensive play throughout the tournament, the Bulldogs made the only goal of the game stand up for a shutout victory over the Colorado Jr. Eagles in their final game of the Texas Star Winter Classic Tournament in Farmers Branch.  Alliance got the game winner at the 8:52 mark of the 1st period, and no, it was not a shorthanded goal for a change.  Alliance went 3-1-0 in the tournament, only allowed 2 goals, and earned 2 shutouts in the process.  Next action for the Bulldogs will be this Wednesday, when they play the Texas Aces in a U14 Tier II State Play-down contest at PSA in Plano, game time set at 8:30pm.

Midget Minor AA Falls in Overtime of Vegas Championship Game…

Midget Minor AA:  Las Vegas - 4, Alliance – 3 (OT):   Alliance got their chance and nearly pulled it off, but fell again to the Las Vegas Outlaws, this time in overtime of the Championship Game of the Las Vegas 2006 Tournament Monday afternoon in the desert of Nevada.  The Bulldogs held a 3-2 lead late in the game, but the Outlaws scored on a controversial play, forcing a tie and the extra period of sudden death action.   The Bulldogs come home with a 4-2-0 tournament record, and an impressive overall season mark of 28-5-0.

Midget Minor AA:  Alliance – 4, DJHA - 0:   The Bulldogs shut out the DJHA Penguins in their final pool game, and are now set for the Championship Game of the Las Vegas 2006 Tournament scheduled for Monday afternoon against the Las Vegas Outlaws.  Alliance controlled the game completely, out-shooting the Penguins by a 32 to 6 margin, and going 1 for 6 with the man advantage.  It was the 4th straight win for the Bulldogs after their opening game loss to the Outlaws last Friday.  They have a chance to make up for that game this afternoon, when the stakes will be considerably higher.

                                                                     Sunday, January 15, 2006

Squirt A Splits 2 in Winter Classic…

Squirt A:  Colo. Springs - 2, Alliance – 1:  The Dogs come up short in the crucial third game against the Colorado Springs Tigers and gain 1.5 points for a total of 10.5 for the tournament through 3 games, and either 2nd or 3rd place depending on the OKC Blazers game against the Houston Hitmen.   Read more HERE...

Squirt A:  Alliance – 1, Phoenix - 0:  The Bulldogs played a defensive game 2 in the Texas Star Winter Classic Tournament at Valley Ranch this morning, and beat the Phoenix Firebirds in a tight game as a result.  Alliance obtains 4 total points by tying the first two scoreless periods, winning  .5 points each, and 1 for the third period win, and 2 for the game win = 4 points.  The Bulldogs' total of 9 points in the Tournament puts them in a tie for first place with the Oklahoma City Blazers.   Read more HERE...

Squirt AA in Texas Star Final Despite Loss...

Squirt AA:  Florida - 4, Alliance - 1:   Alliance fell to the Florida Jr. Everblades in their final preliminary game of the Texas Star Winter Classic Tournament in Valley Ranch Sunday afternoon, but as a result of their earlier stellar play, have earned a re-match with the Everblades in the Championship Game on Monday.  The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead into the 2nd period, but Florida quickly took control with 3 tallies in the frame, and added another in the 3rd to seal the victory.  The Championship is set for 11:00am in Farmers Branch on Monday.

Squirt AA:  Alliance - 3, Stars - 1:   The Bulldogs scored a goal in each period and defeated the Stars Select Major in Game 2 of the Texas Star Winter Classic Tournament in Valley Ranch on Sunday.  After falling behind in the first period 1-0, Alliance responded with a late period power play goal to head into the 2nd period tied at 1-1.   The Bulldogs took a 2-1 lead at the 4:17 mark of the 2nd on another man advantage tally, and then added an insurance goal in the final frame for the 3-1 win.

PeeWee AA1 Falls Twice in Texas Star…

PeeWee AA1:  Colorado Springs Tigers - 11, Alliance - 1:  The Bulldogs clearly did not come to play in Game 3 of the Texas Star Winter Classic tournament in Plano Sunday afternoon, as the Colorado Springs Tigers dominated all aspects of the game, scoring 10 goals after the first two frames.  The Tigers scoring would slow in the third, as the Bulldogs did a better job of keeping the Tigers out of their net, only allowing one goal in the final minutes of the game.  The Bulldogs will play in a consolation game Monday in Euless against the Houston Hitmen.

PeeWee AA1:  Florida Sharpshooters - 4, Alliance - 3:  The Bulldogs came looking for their second win of the Texas Star Winter Classic tournament against the Florida Sharpshooters Sunday morning at Farmers Branch, and despite numerous penalties, they were leading the hunt with just under ten minutes left in the third.  But good teams are disciplined and that’s the lesson the Bulldogs need to learn, as they can’t give other teams a 5-on-3 power play the last five and a half minutes of a game.  Read more HERE...

Bantam AA Nipped in Final Frame…

Bantam AA:  New Mexico - 1, Alliance – 0:  The Bulldogs have lived by the shorthanded goal this tournament, but they died by it Sunday afternoon, falling to the New Mexico Moose in Game 3 of the Texas Star Winter Classic Tournament in Farmers Branch.   Each game the Bulldogs have played this tournament has been a defensive battle, and 2 of the 4 goals scored by Alliance have been of the shorthanded variety.  This game was no different, except the Alliance power play unit was the victim this time, and the Moose shorty came with only 8:53 remaining in the game.  Despite out-shooting New Mexico 19 to 16, the Bulldogs were unable to hit paydirt.

Midget Minor AA Advances to Las Vegas Championship Game…

Midget Minor AA:  Alliance – 5, Crystal Lake - 1:   The Bulldogs won their 3rd game in a row, and with the win over the Crystal Lake Leafs, earned a spot in the Championship Game of the Las Vegas 2006 Tournament scheduled for Monday afternoon.  Alliance will first have to play the DJHA Penguins early Monday, before coming back later in the day for the chance to win it all, most probably against the only team to beat them this week, the host Las Vegas Outlaws.

Midget Minor AAA Falls in Semi-Finals

Midget Minor AAA:  Colorado Outlaws - 6, Alliance - 3:    In a re-match of last year's Rocky Mountain District Championship game, the result was different this time, as the hosts Colorado Outlaws beat the Bulldogs to advance to the Final of their own Colorado Outlaws Shootout tournament in Denver on Sunday afternoon.  The Bulldogs continually suffered consequences of turnovers, as the Outlaws capitalized by turning Alliance mistakes into goals.   The loss ended a 7 game unbeaten streak for the Bulldogs, who will face these same Outlaws again in 2 weeks during the 2006 Dallas Cup.  The Outlaws advance to the Final to face the Madison Capitals, 4-3 winners over the Ice Jets '89 in the other Semi-Final game.

Midget Minor AAA:  Alliance - 9, Phoenix - 2:    After a tight 1st period that ended 1-1, the Bulldogs cranked it up with 5 goals in the 2nd frame and went on to cruise to the win over the Phoenix Firebirds in Game 3 of the Colorado Outlaws Shootout in Denver on Sunday morning.  The win gives Alliance a 3-0-0 record for the tournament, making them division winners and a #2 seed overall headed into the Semi-Finals.  Alliance will face the #3 Seed and host Colorado Outlaws at 3:45pm MST for the right to advance to the Championship Game against the winner of the other semi-final between the #4 Seed Ice Jets '89 and the #1 Seed Madison Capitals.

Alliance Teams go 8-1-1 in First 2 Days of MLK Weekend

The first 2 days of the weekend (including Friday) proved successful for Bulldog teams, as they won 8 of the first 10 games.  The key day is Sunday, when 9 more games will be played and tournament playoff teams will be determined.

Squirt A:  Alliance – 6, Hitmen - 1:  The Bulldogs dominate Game 1 of the Texas Star Winter Classic Tournament in Euless this morning against the Houston Hitmen to obtain the maximum 5 points, by winning a point in each period and 2 for the win to hold first place after one game.  The first Alliance goal was a power play goal at 3:26 in the first, with beautiful cycle passing by all three forwards behind the Houston net to stretch the defense, and 2 quick passes between the right and left wingers to the center in the low left slot for a one timer top shelf goal and a 1-0 lead.  Read more HERE...

Squirt AA:  Alliance - 8, Kansas City - 0:   The Bulldogs started slow, but got 2 goals in the first for a 2-0 lead, and then put the game away with 4 more in the 2nd period and cruised to a convincing win over the Kansas City Outlaws Game 1 of the Texas Star Winter Classic Tournament in Valley Ranch Saturday afternoon.  Five different Bulldogs scored goals, as the offense came from the entire Alliance roster in this complete team effort.

PeeWee AA1:  Alliance - 5, DJHA ’94 - 3:  The Bulldogs started the Texas Star Winter Classic tournament with an important win over the DJHA '94 AA Penguins Saturday afternoon in Euless.  Both teams played toe-to-toe until the final minutes of the game, when fortune (and a mishandled puck by DJHA) would shine down on the Bulldogs and they would net the game-winning goal with 1:22 left.  Read more HERE...

PeeWee AA2:  Alliance - 3, Arapahoe - 3:    Alliance jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but couldn't keep the big and skilled Arapahoe Warriors at bay log enough, and a very competitive and exciting Friendship game ended in a tie Saturday morning in Valley Ranch.   The Bulldogs scrambled in and around the Arapahoe net the first 2 periods, and were rewarded with goals of the hard working variety.  In the final period, the Warriors turned up the heat and scrambled themselves to earn the tie late in the game.

Bantam AA:  Alliance – 2, Colo.Rampage – 0:  The Bulldog defense and goaltending continued where they left off earlier in the day, and 2 goals were more than enough for Alliance to beat the Colorado Rampage in Game 2 of the Texas Star Winter Classic Tournament in Farmers Branch Saturday night.  After a scoreless 1st period, the Bulldog penalty killers struck again for their 2nd shorthanded tally of the day and first of the game to take a 1-0 lead at the 9:32 mark of the 2nd period.  Alliance added an insurance goal in the 3rd to seal the win and a 2-0 tournament record.

Bantam AA:  Alliance – 2, KC Outlaws – 1:  The Bulldogs finished off a comeback win with the game winner coming with only 23 seconds remaining, as they defeated the Kansas City Outlaws  in Game 1 of the Texas Star Winter Classic Tournament in Plano Saturday morning.  The Outlaws took a 1-0 lead late in the opening period with a power play tally, and it looked like they might make that stand up for the win, as the two teams battled into the 3rd period with the score still 1-0 Kansas City.  Read more HERE...

Midget Minor AA:  Alliance – 6, Seattle - 1:   Alliance made it 2 in a row, as they defeated the Seattle Admirals in Game #3 of the Las Vegas 2006 Tournament Saturday evening.  The Bulldogs now control their own destiny, and can earn a berth in the finals with a convincing win on Sunday morning against the Crystal Lake Leafs.

Midget Minor AA:  Alliance – 3, Calif. Wave - 0:   Alliance jumped into the win column of the Las Vegas 2006 Tournament Saturday morning with a solid shutout victory over the California Wave in their second game of the tournament.  The game was similar to the last time these 2 teams met, a 4-1 Bulldog win in the 34th Annual Mile High Thanksgiving Holiday Tournament in Littleton, Colorado.

Midget Minor AAA:  Alliance - 2, Ice Jets '89 - 1:    In a re-match of their tie last week in Dallas, it was more of the same between these 2 rivals, but the Bulldogs pulled this one out late to beat the Ice Jets '89 in Game 2 of the Colorado Outlaws Shootout in Denver on Saturday afternoon.  The first period was scoreless, but not uneventful, as an Alliance player took a 5-minute major and a game misconduct, putting the Bulldogs down a man for a period of time.  Alliance would kill that off, and the 1st period ended 0-0.  Read more HERE...

MLK Weekend + 7 Teams = 25 or More Games...

Another 3-day weekend means a lot more hockey, and this time 5 Bulldog teams will be playing at home.  The Texas Star Winter Classic is the big local attraction, as the Squirt A, Squirt AA, PeeWee AA1, and Bantam AA are all participating.  The PeeWee AA2 team is not in the tournament, but will host the Arapahoe Warriors in a Friendship game on Saturday.

Both U16 teams will be out of town, as the Midget Minor AA is playing in the Las Vegas 2006 Tournament, and the Midget Minor AAA is in Denver for the Colorado Outlaws Shootout.   Check each team's page for their schedule, and back here for results throughout the weekend.

Midget Minor AA Drops Game 1 in Vegas…

Midget Minor AA:  Las Vegas - 7, Alliance – 5:   Alliance lost their first game of the Las Vegas 2006 Tournament this evening against the host Las Vegas Outlaws in a high scoring contest.  The speedy and physical Outlaws capitalized on their power play by going up 2-0 on their first two man advantage opportunities in the 1st period.  Alliance scored to shorten the lead to 2-1 on an even strength goal at the 6:19 mark to finish the scoring in the 1st period.  Read more HERE...

Bulldogs Open Outlaw Shootout with a Win (Corrected & Revised Jan. 14th)...

Midget Minor AAA:  Alliance - 3, Affton - 2:    In a back and forth game where 3 of the 5 goals were on special teams, the Bulldogs prevailed over the Affton Americans in Game 1 of the Colorado Outlaws Shootout in Denver on Friday morning.  To make it even more unusual, 2 of the goals were shorthanded, placing the coaches in the position of cringing when going on the power play.  Read more HERE...

Dogs Slowed on Day 2 of Weekend...

Squirt A:  Alliance – 3, Aeros South - 3:  After a month long layoff from game action, the Bulldogs were expected to come out rusty...but they came out on fire and scored on the first offensive rush in this NTXHL contest against the Houston Aeros South in Valley Ranch.   Alliance aggressively cycled the puck behind the Aeros goalie, then the right wing faked a wrap around and passed across the crease to the center for a sweet one timer and a 1-0 lead at 12:08 Read more HERE...

PeeWee AA2:  LS Wolves - 4, Alliance - 1:    Alliance fell behind early in the game 4-0, but continued to play hard before falling to the LS Wolves in this NTXHL contest early Sunday morning in Valley Ranch.  More to come later...

Bantam AAA:  TPH Thunder - 3, Alliance – 1:   Playing the same team for the 3rd straight time and 7th time of the season can prove to get old, but the TPH Thunder didn't seem to mind, as they handed the Bulldogs their first loss in 7 head-to-head match-ups and go home with a series ending win in Game #3 of their 3-game series Sunday morning at Valley Ranch.  The Thunder came to play early and controlled the tempo from the outset, out-shooting the Bulldogs 7 to 2 in the opening frame and carrying a 1-0 lead into the 2nd period.   Read more HERE...

Midget Minor AAA:  Alliance – 2, Ice Jets '89AAA - 2:   Nothing was settled in this much anticipated and long awaited game between these two rink rivals.  While each team held a 1-goal lead for a period of time, neither could hold, and the game ended as it started, with the score even and both teams still looking toward the next meeting.  It was a penalty-filled contest (what a surprise!), with 3 of the 4 total goals coming on the man advantage from the 17 power play chances doled out by the over-worked officiating crew.    More to come later...

Alliance Starts Weekend Strong...

Squirt AA:  Alliance - 9, Oklahoma City - 1:   The Bulldogs came out of the Christmas and New Year holiday break flying, and the Blazers of Oklahoma City were the unfortunate victims, as Alliance scored early and often in cruising to a NTXHL win at Valley Ranch on Saturday.  It was the Bulldogs' 3rd straight dominating league win, and they are 5-0-1 in their last 6 NTXHL games

PeeWee AA1:  Alliance – 4, Tulsa - 4:   Alliance came out firing, and took advantage of their energy to take an early 2-0 lead in the first period.  They were not able to maintain the same level of play throughout, however, and the Tulsa Flames battled back to earn a tie in this NTXHL contest Saturday morning in Valley Ranch.  Read more HERE...

Bantam AAA:  Alliance – 5, TPH Thunder - 1:   The Bulldogs continued their winning ways, beating the TPH Thunder for the 5th straight time this season in Game #2 of their 3-game series Saturday afternoon at Valley Ranch.  Alliance took control early, skating out to a 2-0 lead after the first period of play.  After trading goals in the 2nd, the Bulldogs again took control with 2 more in the final frame for the 5-2 win.  Final game of the series is set for Sunday morning at 10:30am in Valley Ranch.

Bantam AAA:  Alliance – 7, TPH Thunder - 2:   The Bulldogs jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first 8 minutes of the game, withstood a TPH Thunder recovery for the next 17 minutes, and then pulled away in the final period for a convincing win in Game #1 of their 3-game series Saturday morning at Valley Ranch.  Alliance was all over the visitors from the southeast in the 1st period, out-shooting them by a 10 to 4 margin after one period of play.  Read more HERE...

Midget Minor AA:  Alliance – 6, DJHA - 1:   Alliance started slow, taking a 1-0 lead from the first period into the 2nd frame, then added 3 more in the 2nd and cruised to the NTXHL victory over DJHA Saturday night in Valley Ranch.  The win earned the Bulldogs a small amount of payback for being handed their only league loss in their last meeting with the Penguins early last month.  The win raised the Alliance league mark to 13-1-0, and they remain firmly planted in 1st Place.

Midget Major AA:  Alliance – 3, Austin - 1:   The Bulldogs looked like they might never score in this tight NTXHL contest, but finally found the touch and enjoyed it, with all 3 goals coming in the 3rd period for a come from behind win over the Austin Roadrunners in Valley Ranch.  After a scoreless opening frame, the Roadrunners found the back of the net first with a power play goal at 10:27 of the 2nd period to take what appeared to be a solid 1-0 lead.  More to come later...

Bulldogs Announce Christmas Mini-Camp...

Most Bulldog teams are off during the Christmas holidays, and Alliance is offering an opportunity for those players to keep their skills in fine tune with a 3-day Mini-Camp December 27th-29th at Valley Ranch.

It will be a chance to build team and association bonds while working on skills and development.  Many players have already responded to email inquiries, but there is still time to let us know you want to participate.   One session will be from 10:30-12:00 noon, and if necessary, a second session will be added at 12:30pm.

The camp will be run by Alliance Coaches, and  some of Alliance’s nationally ranked Bantam and Midget players will work along side the coaches, giving the younger players personal exposure to the talented athletes.

The cost of the 3 days of high quality training is only $100 per player.  Interested Alliance Bulldogs are invited to apply here for a spot in the camp.

Bantam AA Takes Stars, Back in NTXHL Win Column…

Bantam AA:  Alliance – 3, Jr. Stars – 1:  After dropping their last NTXHL game for their first league loss in almost a month, the Bulldogs were ready to get back to their winning ways.  Alliance did just that on Tuesday night, as they took the Stars Major AA in Valley Ranch, utilizing the short-handed goal and coming from behind after an early Stars lead.

The Stars got on the scoreboard first, on an even strength goal for a 1-0 lead only 4 minutes into the game. The Dogs tied it at the 7:24 mark of the 1st, when a Bulldog forward stole the puck in the neutral zone and raced untouched to the net where he finished it off with the goal to make it 1-1.   In the 2nd period, the Bulldogs unleashed their vicious penalty kill, and scored two short handed goals within 33 seconds of each other to go up 3-1. Both teams had power play opportunities in the 3rd, as 11 penalties were called, but neither team could find the net and the game ended up at 3-1 in favor of the good guys.

Midget Minor AA:  Alliance - 8, LS Wolves - 1:  The Bulldogs fell behind early, recovered quickly for a commanding 5-1 lead after the first period, and cruised to the victory over the LS Wolves in this NTXHL contest late Wednesday night in Valley Ranch.   After failing to convert on their first power play opportunity of the night a few minutes earlier, Lone Star connected at even strength when a loose puck was retrieved in front of the Bulldog net by a Wolve all alone for a 1-0 lead at 10:34 of the 1st period.  It would be their last score of the evening, as the Bulldogs came to life quickly thereafter.  Read more HERE...

Alliance says Good-Bye to the Turgeons...

The Alliance family, Squirt AA, and Bantam AA teams are losing a couple of good players, a coach, and family today, as Dominic Turgeon, Elizabeth Turgeon, and their family are heading off to Denver, where Pierre will be playing for the Colorado Avalanche this season.  We have certainly enjoyed having Elizabeth and Dominic in our program, as well as having Pierre behind the bench.  The Alliance organization wishes the Turgeon family the best of luck in Denver, and hope to see you at Thanksgiving in Littleton for the Mile High Invitational.

Toronto Drops Bantams into Consolation...

Bantam AAA:  Toronto Young Nats - 8, Alliance - 2:  It makes winning difficult to take penalties against good teams, but it makes it almost impossible when you take too many against a really good team while not playing your best at the same time.  Such was the case Saturday for Alliance in Game 4 against the Toronto Young Nats in the Toronto Redwings Earlybird AAA Invitational Tournament, and the result was not pretty.  After battling to a 1-1 tie after one period of play, the Young Nats broke open the game in the 2nd period.  Read more HERE...

Bulldogs Eliminated in Shootout...

Midget Minor AAA:  Capital Center Pride - 3, Alliance - 2 (SO):  In a very close game where they came back from an 2-goal deficit to tie the game in the 2nd period, the Bulldogs fell to the Capital Centre Pride in a shootout after 2 scoreless over-times in the Quarter-Finals of the Little Caesars Motor City Cup in Detroit.   After a scoreless 1st period, all the goals that would be scored in the game would come in the 2nd period.  Read more HERE...

Squirt AA Drops a Close One in 1st Game...

Squirt AA:  Ice Jets '95 AAA - 7, Alliance - 5:  In their first NTXHL and regular season action against the Ice Jets '95 AAA, it was game that started off fast and never slowed down, as the Bulldogs took an early 1-0 lead just a minute into the game at Valley Ranch.  The Ice Jets fought back to tie the game 53 seconds later and then took a 2-1 lead 10 seconds after that.  At the end of the first period the Ice Jets were still up 2-1.  Read more HERE...

MMinor AA Wins Impressively in 1st Game...

Midget Minor AA:  Alliance - 7, Stars - 1:  The Bulldogs faced a tough opponent in their first NTXHL and regular season game, and it was penalties and special teams all day, as they faced off against the Stars Select Saturday in Valley Ranch.  The Bulldogs would ride the strength of 2 short-handed goals, add 2 power play goals, and plenty of contact and intense action to skate away with a win in their first game of the season.  Read more HERE...

Bantams Battle to Tie...

Bantam AAA:  Alliance - 1, North Jersey - 1:  It was a battle between 2 really good teams with National Championship experience, and nothing was decided as a result in Game 3 against the North Jersey Avalanche in the Toronto Redwings Earlybird AAA Invitational Tournament.  The Avalanche jumped out to a 1-0 lead during the first period and would take that advantage into the 2nd frame.  Read more HERE...

MMinors Earn Quarter-Finals with 3rd Straight Win...

Midget Minor AAA:  Alliance - 5, Michigan Jaguars - 3:  In a very physical contest, the Bulldogs recovered from a let-down in the 2nd period to pull away from the Jaguars in Game 3, and advance to the Quarter-Finals as the #1 Seed from the Bowman Conference in the Little Caesars Motor City Cup in Detroit.   Alliance jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the 1st period, but let the Jags get back into the game in the 2nd period, as they tied it up at 2-2 after 2 periods of play.  Read more HERE...

2 Alliance Games Today at Valley Ranch...

Squirt AA:  The Bulldogs will be facing a tough opponent right off the bat in their first NTXHL and regular season game, as they square off against the Ice Jets '95 AAA Saturday at 10:15am in Valley Ranch.  The Ice Jets are coming out of the Texas Shootout Tournament with a 3-1 record.

Midget Minor AA:  The Bulldogs will also be facing a tough opponent in their first NTXHL and regular season game, as they face off against the Stars Select Saturday at 1:30pm in Valley Ranch.  The Stars reached the finals in last week's Texas Shootout Tournament, and handed the Bulldogs their only league loss last season.  Should be some intense action between these two long-time rivals.

Friday, September 9, 2005    Toronto & Detroit Updates...

Alliance Returns Favor in Final Minute...

Midget Minor AAA:  Alliance - 3, Victory Honda - 2:  In a re-match of last year's Championship game, the Bulldogs and Victory Honda did not disappoint, as they took each other all the way into the last half minute of the game before deciding a winner in Game 2 of the Little Caesars Motor City Cup in Detroit.   With Alliance leading 2-1 with 25 seconds to go, the score would change twice before becoming final, as both teams never gave up on their hopes of winning.  Read more HERE...

Alliance Coasts in  Game 1 at Detroit...

Midget Minor AAA:  Alliance - 9, Jr. Jacks - 1:  The Bulldogs started slowly, but after a scoreless 1st period, scored 7 goals in the 2nd frame to go on to win Game 1 against the Cleveland Jr. Jacks in the Little Caesars Motor City Cup in Detroit.   Due to a running clock the entire 3rd period, Alliance only tallied 2 more while the Jackets ruined the shutout on a misplayed puck in the Bulldog defensive zone.   Read more HERE...

Thursday, September 8, 2005    4 Teams in Action this Weekend...

Four Alliance teams will see action this weekend, with the Squirt AA, Bantam AAA, and Midget Minor AA playing their first games of the season.  The Squirt AA and Midget Minor AA will be playing their first NTXHL games of the year here at home in Valley Ranch, while the Bantam AAA and Midget Minor AAA will be on the road to Toronto and Detroit respectively for Tier I tournament action.

Bantam AAA:  Alliance picked a tough tournament for their first action of the season, as they travel to Toronto, Ontario  to play in the annual Toronto Redwings Earlybird AAA Invitational Tournament.  They will play against some of the top Tier I programs in the Northeast US and Ontario.  Their first game will be Friday morning against the Markham Islanders, followed by the Richmond Hill Stars Friday afternoon.   For schedule and results, click HERE...

Midget Minor AAA:  The Bulldogs do not get much time off after their tournament last week in Boston, as they hit the road today for the Little Caesars Motor City Cup in Detroit.  They will play twice on Friday, first against the Cleveland Jr. Jacks in the morning, then come back for a night cap against Victory Honda.   The Bulldogs defeated Honda 2-1 in the final last year and come in as the Defending Champions.  For schedules, scores, results, and standings, click HERE...

Monday, September 5, 2005    Texas Shootout Update...

Squirt A: Ice Jets AAA - 9, Alliance - 0:  Playing the morning following a huge emotional comeback win while playing a very good AAA team proved too much for the Bulldogs to overcome in their final game of the Texas Shootout Tournament Labor Day morning at Valley Ranch.  The Ice Jets took the lead for good only 10 seconds into the 1st period and never looked back. The Jets also scored at the end of the period with only 14 seconds left, with 2 more in between for a 4-0 lead after one period of play.  Read more HERE...

PeeWee AA1: Ice Jets ’93 AA – 1, Alliance - 0:   Expectations were high as to how these two teams would compete against each other and just as expected, each team went toe-to-toe in a high tempo game Monday afternoon at Farmers Branch. The game was as close as the score indicated, with the Ice Jets '93 AA edging the Bulldogs by one for the right to advance to the finals of the Texas Shootout Tournament in Farmers Branch.  Read more HERE...

Bantam AA:  Alliance - 7, Ice Jets '91/92 AA - 0:  The Bulldogs started slow, but scored 4 goals in the 2nd period and cruised the rest of the way to shut out the Ice Jets '91/92 AA in a Consolation Game of the Texas Shootout Tournament in Plano Monday afternoon.   Big factors in the second period were the 5:00 major and 4:00 double minor penalties the Ice Jets received, and as a result, the Bulldogs scored 2 power play goals to increase their lead to 3-0 just under 3 minutes into the frame.  Read more HERE...

Sunday, September 4, 2005    Texas Shootout & Mass Tier I Updates...

Squirt A: Alliance - 5, LS Wolves - 4 (SO)Bulldogs never quit, and boy did they have an opportunity to break that rule Sunday afternoon at Valley Ranch.   But true to their name, these 'Dogs took a bite of the Wolves in the 3rd period and never let go, scoring 3 unanswered goals in the last half of the final frame to force a shootout which they won to take Game 3 of the Texas Shootout Tournament.

What appeared to be tight game through 2 periods would be broken open by the Wolves in the 3rd, as they increased their lead to 3-0 and then to 4-1 before the Bulldogs would come to life.  Read more HERE...

PeeWee AA1: Alliance - 6, LS Wolves Major - 2:  The Bulldogs rebounded from their heart-breaking loss in the morning to come back and beat the LS Wolves Major Sunday evening in the Texas Shootout Tournament at Farmers Branch.  The Wolves first shift surprised the Bulldogs by taking the opening face off down and scoring 13 seconds into the game for a 1-0 early lead.  The Wolves wrist shot tipped off the Bulldogs goalie glove and into the net.   Not to be rattled, the Bulldogs kept to their game plan knowing hard work and determination would pay off, and at 6:05 the Bulldogs found the back of the net to tie the game at 1-1 on an even strength goal.   Read more HERE...

PeeWee AA1: DJHA '93 - 4, Alliance - 3:  The Bulldogs looked to build off their win Saturday night with a Sunday morning charge against the Penguins, only to be edged out in the remaining seconds of the game in this Texas Shootout Tournament contest in Farmers Branch.  The first four minutes of the game were probably the Bulldogs best at applying constant pressure in the Penguin zone, but they could not convert. Much of the first period was a lot of back and forth by both teams and at 3:36, Alliance would capitalize on a Penguin defensive breakdown and score on a walk in goal to make it 1-0.  At the end of one period, shots were fairly low for both teams as Alliance had 5, DJHA 4.  Read more HERE...

Bantam AA: Alliance - 2, Texas Aces AA - 0:  The Bulldogs rode the back of their goalie and made a 2nd period short-handed goal standup for a shutout win over the Texas Aces AA in the Texas Shootout Tournament in Plano Sunday evening.  It was a very tightly checked and defensive game, with neither team getting many quality scoring chances until late in the final period.  Read more HERE...

Midget Minor AAA: Pittsburgh Hornets - 3, Alliance - 2:  Alliance found themselves chasing from behind all day in this one, and were eliminated by the Pittsburgh Hornets in Game 5 of the Massachusetts Tier I Labor Day Face-Off in Marlboro, Massachusetts.   The Bulldogs took enough penalties to give the big and quick Hornets room to tally 2 of their 3 goals on the man advantage.  Pittsburgh heads into the Semi-Finals at 4-1, and the Bulldogs' record evened up at 2-2-1 thus far on the new season.  Alliance does not have much time to reflect on this one, as they hit the road again this next weekend for the Motor City Classic in Detroit.

Midget Minor AAA: Alliance - 6, 495 Stars - 1:  Alliance caught their breath and came out refreshed Sunday morning, and it showed in their win over the 495 Stars (Mass) in Game 4 of the Massachusetts Tier I Labor Day Face-Off in Marlboro, Massachusetts.   The Bulldogs took a 2-1 lead into the 2nd period, added one in the 2nd, and then iced the game with 3 more in the 3rd to run their tournament and season record to 2-1-1 thus far.  Alliance can earn a spot in the Semi-Finals with a win tonight over the Pittsburgh Hornets, who lost Sunday morning 4-0 to the New Jersey Devils.

Saturday, September 3, 2005    Texas Shootout & Mass Tier I Updates...

Squirt A: Alliance - 5, DJHA '96 - 0:  The Bulldogs rebounded just fine from earlier in the day and shut out the DJHA Minor '96 team in Game 2 of the Texas Shootout Tournament in Valley Ranch on Saturday afternoon.  The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead just 1:40 into the game on a deflected shot from the point that went 5-hole on the goalie, and they never looked back.  Read more HERE...

Squirt A: DJHA '95 - 7,  Alliance - 2:  The Bulldogs battled tough against a good DJHA Major '95 team in their 2005-2006 Season Opener, but came up short in the Texas Shootout Tournament in Valley Ranch.    DJHA jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals at 9:12 and 5:45 of the 1st period, but the Bulldogs would respond just 19 seconds later to make a 2-1 DHJA lead at the end of the 1st period.  Read more HERE...

PeeWee AA1: Alliance - 3, Texas Aces-Green - 2:   Saturday afternoon at the OK-Coral (aka: Valley Ranch) turned into a real shootout between the Bulldogs and the Aces-Green in which the Bulldogs won in a real thriller There was no lack of excitement or effort in this high flying game as the Bulldogs came out itching to score first and did so with an even strength goal at 11:30 into the game to take a 1-0 lead. Both teams came out with a lot of jump in their step and challenged each other back and forth.   Read more HERE...

Bantam AA: Alliance - 6, DJHA '91 - 3:  The Bulldogs rebounded from their heart-breaking loss in the morning to come back and beat DJHA '91 AA Saturday afternoon in the Texas Shootout Tournament in Plano.

It was a penalty-filled game with four of the 9 goals coming on the man advantage, and the game started fast, with seven of the goals coming in the 1st period.  Read more HERE...

Bantam AA: Ice Jets AAA - 5, Alliance - 4 (SO):  The Bulldogs gave the Ice Jets '92 AAA all they wanted, holding 1-goal leads three times before the Jets would tie it late in the 3rd to force a shootout Saturday morning in the Texas Shootout Tournament in Plano.    The Ice Jets would take the game by winning the shootout 2-1 through four skaters on each team.

Alliance fell behind 1-0 just over a minute into the game on the first of 3 Ice Jet power play goals.  The 'Dogs would battle back to tie it at 1-1 with 6:30 left on the strength of a nice shorthanded goal on a 3 on 1.  Alliance would take their first lead a minute and a half later on a shot from the point that created a rebound and shot over the downed goalie for a 2-1 Bulldog lead at the end of the 1st period.   Read more HERE...

Midget Minor AAA: Chicago Chill - 1, Alliance - 0:  The Bulldogs appeared to run out of steam as they played their 3rd tough game in the last 2 days, and couldn't muster any scoring as they lost their first game of the season to the Chicago Chill in Game 3 of the Massachusetts Tier I Labor Day Face-Off in Marlboro, Massachusetts.   Read more HERE...

Midget Minor AAA: Alliance - 3, NJ Devils - 2:  It was another penalty-filled battle for Alliance again, but this time the Bulldogs came out on top over the New Jersey Devils in Game 2 of the Massachusetts Tier I Labor Day Face-Off in Marlboro, Massachusetts.   Both teams appeared to be irritated with each other in this re-match of last year's 2005 USA Hockey National Championship contest.  Read more HERE...

Friday, September 2, 2005    Season Openers on Friday...

Bantam AA: Stars - 4, Alliance - 2:  The Bulldogs' power play was their demise in the 2005-2006 Season Opener, falling to the Stars Major AA  Friday night in the Texas Shootout Tournament in Plano.

Alliance had two man advantage opportunities in the 3rd period, but not only could not convert, but allowed the Stars to tally two shorthanded goals to make the difference in the game.  Falling behind 2-0 after the first period, the Bulldogs brought it to within one at 2-1 after 2 periods of play.  Just over 4 minutes into the 3rd period, the Stars extended their lead to 3-1 on their first of the two shorthanded goals, on a breakaway.  Read more HERE...

Midget Minor AAA: Alliance - 1, NH Monarchs - 1:  The 2005-2006 Season Opener could have gone either way, but ended up not going to either team in a 1-1 tie in Game 1 of the Massachusetts Tier I Labor Day Face-Off in Marlboro, Massachusetts.   It was a parade to the penalty box for both teams, as both the Bulldogs and the New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs continually were put on the man advantage throughout the contest.  Both teams were able to tally a power play goal, but could not muster any even strength scores.

The Bulldogs will continue play with two more games on Saturday, first against the New Jersey Devils, who defeated the defending U16 Tier I National Champion Mid-Fairfield Blues 2-0 on Friday, and then against the Chicago Chill, winners over the NJ Titans 7-0 in their opener.

On Sunday, June 12, 2005, Neil Amy, owner of Illusion Sports Productions and hockey play-by-play announcer, passed away.   Neil was on his regular morning run when he suffered a fatal heart attack.  Neil was a permanent fixture at the Highland Park High School Hockey games, where he video broadcasted all HP Scot games.  He also video broadcasted many other DFW area sporting events, including the 2005 Dallas Cup Tournament.

All Alliance players, coaches, and families join the Highland Park Scots and the rest of the DFW hockey family in offering our most sincere condolences to the Amy family for the loss of Neil.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Tuesday, July 12, 2005   USA Hockey Registration now available On-Line...

Effective for the 2005-2006 season, USA Hockey is going to online registration for all players, officials, and coaches.  Last year they had a test program with some associations to work out the kinks and it is now available to all associations.  Several Alliance players and coaches have used the new on-line registration and it was very easy

Players that don't want to online register don't have to, however, but it is the preferred method by USA Hockey and will probably to mandated in seasons to come.  Alliance also prefers that our players and coaches use this on-line method as well.  For more details and information about the on-line registration process, click HERE...

Squirt A Bulldogs...

The moment everyone has been waiting for has finally arrived.   We will have our first team meeting/practice this coming Saturday, June 11 at Valley Ranch. The schedule will be as follows:

                                     11:30-12:30 Off-Ice training for 30-45 minutes

                                     12:30-1:30 On-Ice Practice

The team meeting will take place after the on-ice practice and after the kids have had a chance to get changed. We apologize for the somewhat late notice, but the coaches want to get everyone together before the summer gets into full swing.

PeeWee AA2 Bulldogs...

Coaches Greg and Jaz have organized a night out at the Frisco Roughriders vs. San Antonio Missions baseball game this Friday, June 10th at 7:00 PM.  It looks like most of the team will be in town, so it should be a fun night to get the team and their families together.  If you can make it, great!   If not, we understand.  We will get tickets on the lawn area, so the kids can play around if they want.  Fireworks will follow the game.  You may get directions from www.ridersbaseball.com/directions

Our lawn tickets are $7 per person.  Please bring cash or a check to the game to pay Greg, and a blanket for your family.  The sold out game starts at 7:00 PM, so please try to get there at 6:30 PM to get your tickets from Greg at the FRONT GATE and to try to get an
area for all of us to sit together.

Thursday, April 28, 2005     Birth-year 1997 Tryout Change...

Due to a ruling just received by Alliance yesterday from the DFW Hockey Oversight Committee (HOC), 1997 Birth-year players are NOT allowed to play Squirt Travel Hockey in the 2005-2006 season unless they played Squirt Travel last season, 2004-2005.  1997 Players must provide evidence they comply with this DFW HOC ruling prior to being allowed to try out at Alliance.

If you are a 1997 Birth-year Player, have already registered on-line for Alliance Tryouts, and cannot meet this requirement, we will refund your $75.00 fee.  We will be calling those 1997s that registered on-line to determine their status in this regard.  If you are a 1997 and meet this requirement, you are certainly welcome and encouraged to try out for our Squirt teams.

Tuesday, April 26, 2005     Alliance Well Represented at Texas High School State Championship Game...

Congratulations to Alliance Coaches Cosmo Clarke (Plano West) and Chris Kostopoulos (Highland Park) for taking their respective High School teams to the Championship Game of the Texas High School State Championships this past weekend in Frisco, Texas.

Someone had to come out on top, but they waited until almost 12 minutes were gone in the first overtime frame before Plano West scored the only goal of the game to give the Wolves a 1-0 sudden-death victory.  Also on the bench for Plano West were Jaz Hayden (Alliance Bantam AA & PeeWee AA) and Pete Bailey (Midget Major AA Assistant).

Players from Alliance on the Plano West squad included Graylyn Douglas, Gregory Douglas, Drew Jenkins, Justin Jez, Matt Burns, Mark Adams, and Ryan MerkowAlliance players for Highland Park were Jeff Condry and Locke Jillson.

Friday, April 22, 2005    Tryout Schedules have been revised...

Due to unforeseen conflicts, the Saturday Schedules for Tryouts coming up on April 30th have been revised.  The Squirts and Midget Minors will be skating at Euless on Saturday, and all other groups will be at Valley Ranch.  Also, because our teams will not be selected to be age pure, the PeeWee groups are now divided by A-L and M-Z, in lieu of by birth-year as previously scheduled.  If you have already registered and now are unable to try out, please let us know, and we will refund your payment if already made.

We have also now posted the Alliance Tryout Procedures.  Please review and be familiar with these procedures during the tryout process.

With that in mind, we will have experienced Alliance coaches lead these teams in their development and competition throughout the season.  Our Midget and Bantam Coaches will team together, 2 per team, to provide the coaching and training of these players in each practice and game during the season.
