Alliance Open House a Huge Success...
The first ever Alliance Open House drew overflowing crowds with hundreds of players and parents flocking to Valley Ranch on Saturday, as Alliance introduced their 2006-2007 Coaches and Teams. A great response was received from those in attendance to the introduction of the new line of Bulldog PREP Teams. Additional sheets of ice had to be used for the unexpected high number of players taking advantage of the "Skate with the Coaches" sessions.
It was announced that due to the number of additional players arriving, that registrations for our Spring Camp would be held open indefinitely to allow those players a chance to register. The Camp starts this Wednesday April 12th, and you can register by clicking HERE...

Alliance Midget Major AA Wins NTXHL Championship!!!
Midget Major AA: Alliance - 2, Texas Aces - 1 (OT): In a series where each game was decided with the game winning goal coming in the final minute of play, it was only fitting that the Championship game would go to overtime to decide the winner. In a battle that neither team deserved to lose, it was the Bulldogs that came away with the win, as they scored just 49 seconds into overtime to beat the Texas Aces and win the NTXHL Championship early this morning in Frisco.
After battling to a 1-1 tie through regulation, the Alliance center won a face-off in the Aces' right wing circle, drove hard to the net, and put his own rebound over the left shoulder of the Aces net-minder to give the Bulldogs the win and the Championship banner. This Bulldog team completed the season with an outstanding 29-15-2 season, which included a Regular Season NTXHL Championship, U18 Tier II State Championship, and the NTXHL Playoff Championship. NTXHL Playoffs: Bulldogs Take Game 1 of Championship Series with Last Minute Tally...
Midget Major AA: Alliance - 4, Texas Aces - 3: The Alliance Midget Major AA waited until the last minute, but came through with the game winner with only 27 seconds remaining in regulation to nip the Texas Aces in Game 1 to take a 1-0 lead in their Best of 3 Championship Series of the NTXHL Playoffs tonight in Frisco.
The Bulldogs and the Aces have played several times this season and every game has been close, and this was no exception. The Aces jumped to a 1-0 lead just under 2 minutes into the game, scoring on a breakaway. The Bulldogs capitalized on a power play opportunity 5 minutes later to tie the score at 1-1. The Aces closed out the 1st period by scoring on a deflection to take a 2-1 lead at the 1st intermission. Read more HERE...

Alliance Squirt A Wins NTXHL Championship!!!
Squirt A: Alliance - 5, Aeros North - 2: The Bulldogs put a great cap on a great season, with a solid win over the Houston Aeros North in the Game 3 of the Best of 3 NTXHL Championship Series Sunday afternoon in Frisco.
The result of a long season of hard work and fun is now the right to be called the reigning NTXHL Squirt A CHAMPIONS for 2006-2007. After a disappointing Game 2 loss by a score of 1-0 in a tightly played game the night before, the Dogs came out barking in the Championship Game. To read more and see pictures, click HERE...
Squirt AA Finishes Great Season with 2nd Place in Championship Series...
Squirt AA: DJHA - 4, Alliance - 2: The Bulldogs and DJHA Major '95 resumed their 3-game battle for one final time Sunday afternoon in Frisco, with DJHA opening up a 2-0 gap in the 2nd period that the Bulldogs could not quite close in the Championship Game of the NTXHL Championship Series. After the Bulldogs would narrow the margin to within 1 two different times, the Penguins responded each time within a minute to widen the lead back to a 2 goals. Alliance peppered the Penguin goalie all afternoon, but he was up to the task when it counted, and DJHA takes home the NTXHL crown. The Bulldogs complete an awesome season with a 32-12-3 record.
Bantam AA Finishes with Strong Showing in NTXHL Playoffs...
Bantam AA: Alliance - 1, Stars - 0: The Bulldogs played well in all 4 games this weekend, dropping their first 2 games in OT, and winning their last 2, including a close shutout over the Stars to complete their season and the NTXHL Playoffs Sunday afternoon in Plano. Alliance finished the season with a positive 24-22-2 record, with nine (9) of those losses being by one goal and/or in overtime, and 4 of them against "AAA" teams.
Midget Minor AA Ends Season with a Win...
Midget Minor AA: Alliance - 5, DJHA - 1: The Bulldogs knew coming into the game they had been eliminated from the playoffs, and it was their last game of the season, but the finished strong with a win over DJHA in Game 4 of the NTXHL Playoffs Sunday afternoon in Valley Ranch. Alliance finished the season with an impressive 38-14-1 record, was a finalist in 2 tournaments, and captured the NTXHL Regular Season Championship.
Midget Major AA Cruises into Championship Series at 4 and 0...
Midget Major AA: Alliance - 3, OKC - 2: Alliance and OK City battled close all day, but it was an unusual empty netter by the Bulldogs with the game tied that won Game 4 of the NTXHL Playoffs Sunday Afternoon in Euless. OKC figured the only way they could possibly advance was with a regulation and 3rd period win, so they pulled the goalie late in the game to go for the win. The Bulldogs take the gift and their 4-0 playoff record into next weekend's Best of 3 NTXHL Championship Series against the Texas Aces.

RMD Tier II Championships - Day 2 Update...
Midget Major AA: Arvada - 4, Alliance - 2: The Bulldogs came from behind again to tie the game, but were unable to grab the lead and fell in Game 2 of the U18 Tier II Rocky Mountain District Championships in Denver late Friday night. Alliance fell behind in the first period, as Arvada took advantage of their opportunities, mixed with some good fortune.
The first goal was an empty netter, as the Bulldog net-minder was taken out of the play and Arvada capitalized for a 1-0 lead. They increased their lead with another tally later in the period to take a 2-0 lead into the 2nd frame.
The Bulldogs fought back in the second, scoring on a nice shot from the slot to reduce the lead to one goal at 2-1. Alliance would bring things even before the period would end, with an excellent slap-shot from the point and through traffic in front for a power play goal to tie the score at 2-2. The 2nd period would end with the score still tied, and both teams looking to win it in the 3rd period.
Unfortunately for Alliance, it was Arvada doing the scoring in the final period, as they score 2 more goals for the 4-2 win, both coming on the man advantage. Alliance had its chances but the puck would not bounce their way, as the shots for the game were even, but Alliance spent more time in the penalty box. The Bulldogs come back for the final preliminary game on Saturday, when they play the Highland Hills Jaguars, who beat Arvada in the Colorado State Championship game in 3 overtimes.

Kudos to Dallas Teams and DFW Hockey...
The Alliance Youth Hockey Association extends their congratulations to the four Tier I teams that played in the 2006 Rocky Mountain District Tier I Championships this weekend in Phoenix. All 4 teams from Dallas advanced to at least the Semi-Finals, three made it to the Championship Game of their respective age divisions, and the U18 Dallas Stars won the Championship to advance to the USA Hockey Nationals.
The U14 Alliance Bulldogs, U16 Dallas Ice Jets, U16 Alliance Bulldogs, and the Stars all represented Dallas hockey extremely well, demonstrating the depth of talent in the area, as they come from three different associations within the DFW metroplex.
All of the other associations in Dallas should be proud that they, too, have had a hand in developing some of the players on these teams throughout their youth hockey careers. Knowing the quality of these teams demonstrates how hard it is to advance to Nationals, with such good competition at the Local, State, and Regional levels.
Next up is the 2006 RMD Tier II Championships this next weekend in Denver. The U14 Ice Jets and U18 Alliance Bulldogs will represent Texas in Denver, while the U12 Ice Jets will play the Littleton Hawks for the 2006 RMD U12 Tier I Championship here in Dallas March 17-19.
RMD Tier I Championships Day 4 - Bantams Fall In Championship Game...
Bantam AAA: Phoenix - 3, Alliance - 2: The Bulldogs fell behind 1-0 in the first period, and spent the rest of the game trying to overcome the Phoenix Firebirds, but came up a goal short in the Championship Game of the U14 Tier I Rocky Mountain District Championships in Phoenix on Sunday morning. The Firebirds scored first, and took a 1-0 lead into the 2nd period. From that point on, it was toe-to-toe, and goal-for-goal, as the next 2 periods saw each team tally a single goal in each frame. The Bulldogs finish their outstanding season with an impressive 30-11-3 mark.

RMD Tier I Championships - Day 3 Update...
Bantam AAA: Alliance - 6, Thunderbirds - 2: The Bulldogs led 3-2 at the end of the first period, and extended their margin over the Colorado Thunderbirds to 5-2 after 2 periods of play in Game 2 the of the U14 Tier I Rocky Mountain District Championships in Phoenix. In the 3rd period, Alliance extended its lead with another goal to make the final score 6-2. With the win, Alliance advances to the Final on Sunday against the Phoenix Firebirds, who beat the Thunderbirds on Friday by a score of 6-1. The Bulldogs beat Phoenix 8-4 in Game 1.
Midget Minor AAA: Thunderbirds '89 - 3, Alliance - 1: The Bulldogs fell behind too far to a real good team, and could not recover, as they drop their last game of the season to the #1 Seed Colorado Thunderbirds '89 in the Semi-Finals of the U16 Tier I Rocky Mountain District Championships in Phoenix. Alliance finishes the season with an impressive 30-15-5 record. Read more HERE...
Midget Minor AAA: Alliance - 6, Phoenix - 1: The Bulldogs started slow, then pulled away from the Phoenix Firebirds in Game 3, and earned a spot in the Semi-Finals of the U16 Tier I Rocky Mountain District Championships in Phoenix. The Bulldogs sneak into the playoff round as the #4 Seed, and will have a re-match later today with the #1 Seed Colorado Thunderbirds '89 at 7:15pm CST. The T'Birds nipped the Bulldogs in Game 1 on Thursday by a score of 4-3. The other Semi-Final will have the #2 Seed Dallas Ice Jets squaring off against Phoenix, the #3 Seed, at 5:00pm CST. The Lone Star Wolves and the Alliance Youth Hockey Association are pleased to announce they have agreed to combine their associations, and will operate under the Alliance Youth Hockey Association name, beginning immediately following the conclusion of the 2005-2006 season.
The Lone Star Wolves have provided quality coaching and travel hockey opportunities to more than 1000 youth hockey players, coaches, and families in their 5 year history, and bring to Alliance a wealth of coaching and administrative experience to further enhance the Alliance offering to its players, families, and the DFW hockey community.
The Wolves and Alliance have agreed that their philosophies, goals, and ideas for youth hockey in the DFW area are the same. The Wolves and Alliance further believe a combined organization will increase their capability to further provide higher quality services to the hockey community, more than they could provide separately. RMD Tier I Championships - Day 2 Update...
Midget Minor AAA: Ice Jets - 3, Alliance - 2: The Bulldogs again score first, and take a 1-0 lead into the 2nd period of against the Dallas Ice Jets in Game 2 of the U16 Tier I Rocky Mountain District Championships in Phoenix. The Ice Jets come back in the second period with 2 power play goals to take a 2-1 lead into the 3rd period. In the final period, the Ice Jets increase their lead with a 3rd man advantage tally to make it 3-1.
Still trailing 3-1 in the final minute, Alliance pulled their goalie while short-handed, and scored a 5 on 5 goal with only 11 seconds remaining to make the final score 3-2. The Bulldogs play Game 3 Saturday morning against the Phoenix Firebirds at 8:00am CST.
Bantam AAA: The Bulldogs will not play on Friday, but will practice and come back to face the Colorado Thunderbirds on Saturday. The Thunderbirds play the Firebirds in the only game on Friday.

The Bulldogs fought back with 3 goals in the first to take the lead at 3-2 after one period, and then increased their lead to 5-3 after 2 periods. Alliance would then put it away with 3 more in the final frame for the 8-4 margin of victory.
In a quirky result of only 3 teams in the tournament, the Bulldogs will not play on Friday, but will practice and come back to face the Colorado Thunderbirds on Saturday. The Thunderbirds play the Firebirds in the only game on Friday.
Midget Minor AAA: T'Birds '89 - 4, Alliance - 3: The Bulldogs held the lead for a period, but could not hold on and fell to the Colorado Thunderbirds '89 in Game 1 of the U16 Tier I Rocky Mountain District Championships in Phoenix. Alliance struck first with a power play goal at the 9:23 mark of the 1st period, and carried the 1-0 lead into the second. The T'Birds would respond quickly, with 3 straight goals in just over 2 minutes, 2 of the power play variety and 1 during 4 on 4 action to take a 3-1 lead.
Alliance came right back to score an even strength goal less than a minute later to make it 3-2 headed into the final period of play. The Bulldogs would then tie the game at 3-3 in the first minute of the 3rd, but Colorado would answer back with the game winner at the 10:46 mark. What is the Difference between Tier I and AAA? With all the buzz around town regarding Tier I and AAA hockey, a little education might be in order, and with the assistance of USA Hockey, we hope to help out in that area. If you are confused by, or do not understand the meaning of the terms Tier I and AAA, they are not the same, and many people within the DFW hockey community believe they mean the same thing they do not. Alliance to Expand Tier I Program
Continuing to build upon the foundation we have developed over the last five years, Alliance announces that we look forward to the 2006-2007 Season and expanding our very successful Tier I AAA and Tier II AA programs. Specifically at the Tier I level, we have competed the last 2 years on a National basis at the U14 and U16 age groups, sending a team at each age group to the 2005 Tier I USA Hockey National Championships.
In just the past 3 seasons, Alliance has won 10 State Championships, 5 Rocky Mountain District Championships (2 at Tier I, and 3 at Tier II), and sent 5 teams to the USA Hockey National Championships, with 2 teams each bringing home a National Championship Bronze Medal.
In the upcoming 2006-2007 season, we will be expanding our experience and success to another Tier I AAA offering, this time at the U12 PeeWee age group.
There are a couple of associations in the DFW area that would have you believe that one organization should be created for the purpose of developing players at the AAA level. Most organizations that we have talked to in the DFW area, and there are 13, do not agree that only one organization should develop AAA players.
At Alliance, we believe that competition at a high level, both on the ice and off it, is vital to the success of hockey players, teams, and organizations. It is a good thing that there is choice when it comes to selecting an association to play with, specifically at the Tier I level. Having only one Tier I organization in the DFW area would be detrimental to the development of hockey players in the area, as one organization cannot possibly be the best fit for every player.
Last time we checked, all players have freedom of choice to choose where they try out and play hockey in the DFW area. Fortunately, no one has the authority to place all of the area's top players within one organization.
As demonstrated by our significant accomplishments indicated above, we strongly believe that many, if not a majority, of the areas top players have been playing within the Alliance organization for the past few years, at both the Tier I and Tier II levels. We believe and expect these top players will continue to play at Alliance in the future, as long as we keep providing the quality coaching and training we have become known nationwide to provide.
If you are an elite player, or want to become one, we encourage you to check out our organization, talk to our players and parents, and choose the organization that best fits your needs. Alliance will continue to attract top players and families as a result of our quality coaching and training, and pursue National Championships at both the Tier I AAA and Tier II AA levels.
Spring Camp: Registration Opens, Sessions at Polar Ice Added...
Based on significant feedback from our camp interest survey, as Registration opens today, Alliance announces it has expanded the 2006 Spring Camp to include sessions at Polar Ice in Grapevine this year, in addition to the sessions at Valley Ranch. Sessions at Polar Ice will be held on Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons, while the sessions at Valley Ranch will be held on Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons.
Even though we cannot guarantee the rink at which you will be scheduled to skate, we are asking for you to tell us the rink you prefer when registering. Based on requests and registrations received at specific age groups, we will try to accommodate as many players as possible at the rink of their choice. Specific times and session assignments for specific age groups have not yet been determined, and will be announced as soon as they are finalized.
In another first for the Alliance, registration in the camp will now include the cost of three (3) tryout sessions for Alliance tryouts. These 3 sessions may be any combination of Tier I and/or Tier II tryouts. Should a player desire to skate in more than 3 tryout sessions, each additional tryout session will cost $20.00.
Payments will be accepted by either on-line credit card or mailed check. Full Amount for the camp this year, including the three (3) tryout sessions is $950, with a deposit of $475 required to reserve a spot in the camp. Spots will not be guaranteed until a deposit is received.

With the score at 2-1 late in the 1st period, the 2 goals made it 4-1 Burnaby headed into the 2nd, and from there the teams would trade 2 goals each for the final 6-3 score. PeeWee AA2: Colorado - 2, Alliance - 1: Bulldog penalties continued to be a key factor in the Presidents Day Tourney in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Alliance fell for the 2nd time in 2 tries, this time against the Colorado Rampage on Saturday morning. After allowing 4 power play goals in Game 1, the Bulldogs allowed only 2 in this game, but it was enough for the Rampage to come away with a one-goal margin of victory. The Squirt AA have one game under their belt already (a win, see below), and the Squirt A hits the ice with 2 games on Friday, first against the KC Jr. Outlaws, followed by the Jr. Canadians from Midnapore, British Columbia later in the day.

The Midget Major AA team is visiting our neighbors to the north, as they are in Montreal, Quebec for the Can/Am Tournament. The Majors will be trying to maintain their level of play that took them to a State Championship victory last weekend.

Alliance Celebrates Valentine's Day with Win...
PeeWee AA1: Alliance - 7, DJHA '94 AA - 3: In their second league meeting, Bulldogs beat the DJHA '94 AA Penguins Tuesday night in Frisco to help secure the third place position in the NTXHL standings. The Penguins took the Bulldogs by surprise at the opening face off, by winning it and then skating through the Bulldog line and scoring in 11 seconds flat to take an immediate 1-0 lead. That apparently was all the wake-up call the Bulldogs needed, as they would rally after receiving a penalty (11:42), and score 22 seconds later on a shorthanded goal, starting with a Bulldog skating in on the right side, and back-handing the puck along the ice towards the Penguins goalie, who was not anticipating the low shot, and in it went to tie the game 1-1. Tier II U16: Alliance Splits 2 on Day One at State...
Midget Minor AA: Stars - 6, Alliance - 1: The Stars took a 1-0 lead into the 2nd period, and extended it to 4-1 after 2 periods, and Alliance never recovered in the second game for each team in the Tier II U16 Division of the 2006 Texas State Championships on Saturday afternoon. After Alliance cut the lead to 3-1 on a power play with just 1:44 left in the 2nd, they remained on the power play, threatening to make it a one-goal game. The Stars would have none of it, and got the goal back with a shorthanded breakaway tally to bring the margin back to three at 4-1 with 1:05 left in the second period. The Stars would add 2 more in the final frame to stay in contention for the final.
Midget Minor AA: Alliance - 4, DJHA - 2: The DJHA Penguins kept responding, but came up short at the end, as Alliance held on late, adding an empty netter to ice the game in the Tier II U16 Division opener for both teams at the 2006 Texas State Championships being held at Polar Ice in the Grapevine Mills Mall. The Bulldogs took leads of 1-0 at the end of the 1st period and 2-1 at the end of the 2nd, only to have the Penguins come back and tie the score each time, the last time making it 2-2 on their first shot of the final frame.
Tier I U16: Alliance Stays Alive with OT Win in Game 2...

Alliance came out ready to redeem themselves for the Game 1 loss, and were all over the Ice Jets with 10 shots to the Jets 1 in the first period. It appeared the Jets would survive the flurry, but Alliance took a 1-0 lead on a power play goal with only 1:59 remaining in the opening frame on a shot from the point along the ice that was re-directed in front and past the Jet goalie. Alliance can advance to the Final with a tie or a win over the Aeros on Sunday morning.
Midget Major AA: Alliance - 2, Austin - 2: No one could help but think of the U12 Chaos from last weekend caused by a bunch of ties, but someone forgot to tell the Midget Majors, as Alliance and Austin battled to a tie in the Tier II U18 Division opener for both teams at the 2006 Texas State Championships being held at Polar Ice in the Grapevine Mills Mall.

PeeWee AA1: Alliance - 2, Hitmen - 2: The Bulldogs came within 2 tenths of a second (:00.2) of winning Game 3 and advancing to the Final of the Tier II U12 Texas State Championships Sunday morning at Polar Ice in Grapevine. But the Houston Hitmen somehow scored in the literally the last second to earn a tie, and with the Ice Jets and Stars also playing to a 2-2 tie on the other rink, the State Championships were thrown into unknown territory as all 4 teams still remained tied at the end of pool play. Read more HERE...

In not the best way, but apparently the only way, the shoot-out that ensued determined that the Houston Hitmen will play the Ice Jets '93 AA in the Championship Game to decide the Texas representative to the Tier II U12 Rocky Mountain District Championships in Denver March 9-12.

Alliance took an early 4-1 lead from the 1st period into the 2nd frame, but collapsed under the weight of a 5-goal Shattuck 2nd period attack to trail 6-5 entering the last period of play. The Bulldogs then put the brakes on the Shattuck offense, and tallied 2 more themselves for the dramatic win and took 2 of 3 in the weekend exhibition series.

Bulldogs Beat Aeros North in League Match
Squirt A: Alliance - 3, Aeros North - 2: The Bulldogs came out flying, as the coach told the players before the opening draw that their first shot could not be stopped by the Aeros net-minder, and they rode that energy to a NTXHL win over the Houston Aeros North in Valley Ranch. The team made that motivation a reality, as they won the opening draw and stormed in for a nice deke and backhand shot by the center 17 seconds into the game for a 1-0 lead. Read more HERE...

Dallas Cup Full Swing in Day 2...

Tier II AA Update: The games at Polar Ice in Grapevine were just as exciting, and a surprising entry into the Championship Game will be the Houston Wild, who have played extremely well in victories over the host Alliance Bulldogs and the Long Beach Ice Dogs. It won't get any easier for the Wild, as they will face the #1 Ranked Chicago Flames in the Final.

The other local team, the Dallas Ice Jets, followed that up with an identical 5-2 win over the Phoenix Firebirds, after jumping ahead 5-0 on the strength of 4 power play goals.
The Colo. Thunderbirds '89 then shut out the St. Louis Jr. Blues 3-0, and Russell Stover did the same to Southern Ice Lightning 4-0. Day 1 came to a very competitve and intense end with a 1-1 tie between Colorado Outlaws and the Colo. Thunderbirds '90.
Tier II AA Update: The boys at Polar Ice in Grapevine hit it hard and more often than their AAA counterparts, as each team got in 2 games on Friday to quickly set the tone for the tournament. The Alliance Bulldogs did not have a good day, dropping both games, including the opener against the #1 Ranked Chicago Flames in a game that wasn't decided until 2 late Chicago goals made a close one look worse than it really was. The Long Beach Ice Dogs were the other big winner, coming up with 2 wins also to join Chicago at the top of the heap after one day of action.

Bantam AAA Wins Cleveland Barons Cup!!!
Bantam AAA: Bantam AAA - 5, Cleveland - 0: The Bulldogs capped a great weekend by earning redemption for their only non-win of the tournament, shutting out the host Cleveland Barons in the Championship Game of the Cleveland Barons Cup Sunday in Cleveland, Ohio. The Barons had put the only blemish on the Alliance tourney record with a 5-5 tie in Game 2 on Saturday morning, but this time it was all Bulldogs, as they finish the tournament with a 4-0-1 mark and return home with a very impressive 26-9-3 record for the season. Alliance had entered into the Barons Cup with a #16 National Ranking.
Bantam AAA: Bantam AAA - 4, Phoenix - 2: The Bulldogs needed a win to advance to the final, and they squeaked this one out, beating the Phoenix Firebirds in Game 4 of the Cleveland Barons Cup Sunday in Cleveland, Ohio. Alliance was clinging to a 1-goal lead at 3-2 late in the final period of play, and with an empty net tally sealed the win and a berth in the Championship Game later in the day. Alliance will face the host Cleveland Barons , whom they tied 5-5 in Game 2 on Friday.
Alliance Takes Austin 2-1 Again
Squirt A: Alliance 2, Austin - 1: It's DEJA VU ALL OVER AGAIN. The Bulldogs played the Austin Roadrunners for the second time this weekend, and once again win by a 2-1 margin. The first period was a repeat of Saturday's game, as it ended 0-0. Austin got the first goal today and a 1-0 lead on an even strength tally at 8:49 in the second, on an open mid slot shot that slipped past the Alliance goalie. Just 4 minutes later, on a Bulldog power play, the left wing stole the puck in the neutral zone, and swerved in for a high mid slot shot over the Austin goalie's blocker and a 1-1 tie to end the second period. Bulldogs Back in League Action with a Win...
Squirt AA: Alliance - 5, Stars Select - 3: Today's NTXHL game in Valley Ranch was a physical battle for both teams, with the Bulldogs coming away with the win over the Stars Select Major. The Stars accumulated 12 penalties and Alliance had 8 to make it a special teams affair. Alliance started the scoring in the 1st with a power play goal at the 1:53 mark to take a 1-0 lead. Squirt A Drops Austin in Close League Tilt
Squirt A: Alliance 2, Austin - 1: The last time the Bulldogs squared off against the Austin Roadrunners, it was a close 2-1 game with Austin coming out on top. This time, Alliance turned the tables in another tight NTXHL contest between these two teams at Valley Ranch on Saturday morning. After a scoreless first period, the Bulldogs opened up the scoring with an even strength goal to make it 1-0 at the 7:57 mark of the 2nd frame. The Roadrunners responded just over 3 minutes later on a nice shot from the right wing that beat the goalie blocker side top shelf to tie it up at 1-1 with 4:36 remaining in the 2nd period. Bulldogs Shut Out Hawks in NTXHL Action
PeeWee AA1: Alliance - 4, Ice Hawks - 0: The Bulldogs are in the mode of recovering from a tough weekend, and they showed it on Saturday, as they shut out the Dallas Ice Hawks in NTXHL action at Valley Ranch. The Hawks handed the Bulldogs a 3-2 loss in their only meeting back in November, but this time the Alliance boys came to play, and it showed as they scored in each period of play and kept the Hawks off the scoreboard with good defense and goaltending. More on this game as it is received...
Bantam AAA Goes to 2-0-1 in Cleveland
Bantam AAA: Bantam AAA - 4, Pittsburgh Predators - 1: Alliance came back strong Saturday afternoon in their second tilt of the tournament against a team from Pittsburgh, in Game 3 of the Cleveland Barons Cup. This time it was the Pittsburg Hornets that suffered defeat at the hands of the boys from Texas, who have now been unofficially declared the Pennsylvania State Champions - well, at least "City" champions??? Game 4 of the tourney has the Bulldogs squaring off against the Phoenix Firebirds on Sunday, with playoff opportunities in sight with a win. The Bulldogs beat the Firebirds 6-2 in their only meeting of the season way back in September.
Bantam AAA: Bantam AAA - 5, Cleveland - 5: The Bulldogs face the hosts in Game 2 of the Cleveland Barons Cup Saturday morning, and nothing was decided, as they came away with a "sister-kisser" against the Cleveland Barons in Cleveland, Ohio. Alliance will come back in the afternoon to face the Pittsburg Predators in the nightcap.

Squirt AA Wins Texas Star Winter Classic in a Shootout!!!
Squirt A Wins to go 3-1-0 in Winter Classic
Squirt A: Alliance 2, Aeros South - 0: The Bulldogs completed a good run in the Texas Star Winter Classic tournament with a nice shutout win over the Houston Aeros South Monday morning in Farmers Branch. Alliance got even strength goals in each of the first 2 periods of play and held the Aeros to only 11 shots on goal, while collecting 24 shots for themselves. The win made the Bulldogs 3-1-0 in the tournament and brings the Alliance overall season record to 22-7-2, as they prepare to get back into league action next weekend.
PeeWee AA1 Fall Late to Hitmen
PeeWee AA1: Houston Hitmen - 2, Alliance - 1: In a consolation game of the Texas Star Winter Classic tournament in Euless Monday, the Bulldogs played toe-to-toe with the Houston Hitmen for two strong periods, but the Hitmen would take the third, scoring two goals to clinch the win. Play in the first period was very even, with both teams matching effort and skill. There was no scoring, even though the Bulldogs had the edge on opportunities by out-shooting the Hitmen 8 to 3. PeeWee AA2 Takes Down San Antonio in Friendship Contest
PeeWee AA2: Alliance - 7, San Antonio - 0: The Bulldogs continued their stellar play and momentum from a good game earlier in the weekend against Arapahoe, and pitched a shutout in a Friendship game win over the San Antonio Rampage Monday in Valley Ranch. As indicated by the score, the defense played extremely well, and the offense lit the lamp early and often. Alliance scored 3 times in the opening frame, and took their a 3-0 lead into the 2nd. They increased their margin to 4-0 with another tally in the 2nd period, and then finished strong with 3 more in the final period for the final 7-0 score.
Bantam AA Wins Final Texas Star Game
Bantam AA: Alliance 1, Colo.Eagles - 0: Continuing their defensive play throughout the tournament, the Bulldogs made the only goal of the game stand up for a shutout victory over the Colorado Jr. Eagles in their final game of the Texas Star Winter Classic Tournament in Farmers Branch. Alliance got the game winner at the 8:52 mark of the 1st period, and no, it was not a shorthanded goal for a change. Alliance went 3-1-0 in the tournament, only allowed 2 goals, and earned 2 shutouts in the process. Next action for the Bulldogs will be this Wednesday, when they play the Texas Aces in a U14 Tier II State Play-down contest at PSA in Plano, game time set at 8:30pm.
Midget Minor AA Falls in Overtime of Vegas Championship Game
Midget Minor AA: Las Vegas - 4, Alliance 3 (OT): Alliance got their chance and nearly pulled it off, but fell again to the Las Vegas Outlaws, this time in overtime of the Championship Game of the Las Vegas 2006 Tournament Monday afternoon in the desert of Nevada. The Bulldogs held a 3-2 lead late in the game, but the Outlaws scored on a controversial play, forcing a tie and the extra period of sudden death action. The Bulldogs come home with a 4-2-0 tournament record, and an impressive overall season mark of 28-5-0.
Midget Minor AA: Alliance 4, DJHA - 0: The Bulldogs shut out the DJHA Penguins in their final pool game, and are now set for the Championship Game of the Las Vegas 2006 Tournament scheduled for Monday afternoon against the Las Vegas Outlaws. Alliance controlled the game completely, out-shooting the Penguins by a 32 to 6 margin, and going 1 for 6 with the man advantage. It was the 4th straight win for the Bulldogs after their opening game loss to the Outlaws last Friday. They have a chance to make up for that game this afternoon, when the stakes will be considerably higher.

Squirt A Splits 2 in Winter Classic
Squirt A: Colo. Springs - 2, Alliance 1: The Dogs come up short in the crucial third game against the Colorado Springs Tigers and gain 1.5 points for a total of 10.5 for the tournament through 3 games, and either 2nd or 3rd place depending on the OKC Blazers game against the Houston Hitmen. Read more HERE...
Squirt A: Alliance 1, Phoenix - 0: The Bulldogs played a defensive game 2 in the Texas Star Winter Classic Tournament at Valley Ranch this morning, and beat the Phoenix Firebirds in a tight game as a result. Alliance obtains 4 total points by tying the first two scoreless periods, winning .5 points each, and 1 for the third period win, and 2 for the game win = 4 points. The Bulldogs' total of 9 points in the Tournament puts them in a tie for first place with the Oklahoma City Blazers. Read more HERE...
Squirt AA in Texas Star Final Despite Loss...
Squirt AA: Florida - 4, Alliance - 1: Alliance fell to the Florida Jr. Everblades in their final preliminary game of the Texas Star Winter Classic Tournament in Valley Ranch Sunday afternoon, but as a result of their earlier stellar play, have earned a re-match with the Everblades in the Championship Game on Monday. The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead into the 2nd period, but Florida quickly took control with 3 tallies in the frame, and added another in the 3rd to seal the victory. The Championship is set for 11:00am in Farmers Branch on Monday.
Squirt AA: Alliance - 3, Stars - 1: The Bulldogs scored a goal in each period and defeated the Stars Select Major in Game 2 of the Texas Star Winter Classic Tournament in Valley Ranch on Sunday. After falling behind in the first period 1-0, Alliance responded with a late period power play goal to head into the 2nd period tied at 1-1. The Bulldogs took a 2-1 lead at the 4:17 mark of the 2nd on another man advantage tally, and then added an insurance goal in the final frame for the 3-1 win.
PeeWee AA1 Falls Twice in Texas Star
PeeWee AA1: Colorado Springs Tigers - 11, Alliance - 1: The Bulldogs clearly did not come to play in Game 3 of the Texas Star Winter Classic tournament in Plano Sunday afternoon, as the Colorado Springs Tigers dominated all aspects of the game, scoring 10 goals after the first two frames. The Tigers scoring would slow in the third, as the Bulldogs did a better job of keeping the Tigers out of their net, only allowing one goal in the final minutes of the game. The Bulldogs will play in a consolation game Monday in Euless against the Houston Hitmen.
PeeWee AA1: Florida Sharpshooters - 4, Alliance - 3: The Bulldogs came looking for their second win of the Texas Star Winter Classic tournament against the Florida Sharpshooters Sunday morning at Farmers Branch, and despite numerous penalties, they were leading the hunt with just under ten minutes left in the third. But good teams are disciplined and thats the lesson the Bulldogs need to learn, as they cant give other teams a 5-on-3 power play the last five and a half minutes of a game. Read more HERE...
Bantam AA Nipped in Final Frame
Bantam AA: New Mexico - 1, Alliance 0: The Bulldogs have lived by the shorthanded goal this tournament, but they died by it Sunday afternoon, falling to the New Mexico Moose in Game 3 of the Texas Star Winter Classic Tournament in Farmers Branch. Each game the Bulldogs have played this tournament has been a defensive battle, and 2 of the 4 goals scored by Alliance have been of the shorthanded variety. This game was no different, except the Alliance power play unit was the victim this time, and the Moose shorty came with only 8:53 remaining in the game. Despite out-shooting New Mexico 19 to 16, the Bulldogs were unable to hit paydirt.
Midget Minor AA Advances to Las Vegas Championship Game
Midget Minor AA: Alliance 5, Crystal Lake - 1: The Bulldogs won their 3rd game in a row, and with the win over the Crystal Lake Leafs, earned a spot in the Championship Game of the Las Vegas 2006 Tournament scheduled for Monday afternoon. Alliance will first have to play the DJHA Penguins early Monday, before coming back later in the day for the chance to win it all, most probably against the only team to beat them this week, the host Las Vegas Outlaws.
Midget Minor AAA Falls in Semi-Finals
Midget Minor AAA: Colorado Outlaws - 6, Alliance - 3: In a re-match of last year's Rocky Mountain District Championship game, the result was different this time, as the hosts Colorado Outlaws beat the Bulldogs to advance to the Final of their own Colorado Outlaws Shootout tournament in Denver on Sunday afternoon. The Bulldogs continually suffered consequences of turnovers, as the Outlaws capitalized by turning Alliance mistakes into goals. The loss ended a 7 game unbeaten streak for the Bulldogs, who will face these same Outlaws again in 2 weeks during the 2006 Dallas Cup. The Outlaws advance to the Final to face the Madison Capitals, 4-3 winners over the Ice Jets '89 in the other Semi-Final game.
Midget Minor AAA: Alliance - 9, Phoenix - 2: After a tight 1st period that ended 1-1, the Bulldogs cranked it up with 5 goals in the 2nd frame and went on to cruise to the win over the Phoenix Firebirds in Game 3 of the Colorado Outlaws Shootout in Denver on Sunday morning. The win gives Alliance a 3-0-0 record for the tournament, making them division winners and a #2 seed overall headed into the Semi-Finals. Alliance will face the #3 Seed and host Colorado Outlaws at 3:45pm MST for the right to advance to the Championship Game against the winner of the other semi-final between the #4 Seed Ice Jets '89 and the #1 Seed Madison Capitals.

Alliance Teams go 8-1-1 in First 2 Days of MLK Weekend
The first 2 days of the weekend (including Friday) proved successful for Bulldog teams, as they won 8 of the first 10 games. The key day is Sunday, when 9 more games will be played and tournament playoff teams will be determined.
Squirt A: Alliance 6, Hitmen - 1: The Bulldogs dominate Game 1 of the Texas Star Winter Classic Tournament in Euless this morning against the Houston Hitmen to obtain the maximum 5 points, by winning a point in each period and 2 for the win to hold first place after one game. The first Alliance goal was a power play goal at 3:26 in the first, with beautiful cycle passing by all three forwards behind the Houston net to stretch the defense, and 2 quick passes between the right and left wingers to the center in the low left slot for a one timer top shelf goal and a 1-0 lead. Read more HERE...
Squirt AA: Alliance - 8, Kansas City - 0: The Bulldogs started slow, but got 2 goals in the first for a 2-0 lead, and then put the game away with 4 more in the 2nd period and cruised to a convincing win over the Kansas City Outlaws Game 1 of the Texas Star Winter Classic Tournament in Valley Ranch Saturday afternoon. Five different Bulldogs scored goals, as the offense came from the entire Alliance roster in this complete team effort.
PeeWee AA1: Alliance - 5, DJHA 94 - 3: The Bulldogs started the Texas Star Winter Classic tournament with an important win over the DJHA '94 AA Penguins Saturday afternoon in Euless. Both teams played toe-to-toe until the final minutes of the game, when fortune (and a mishandled puck by DJHA) would shine down on the Bulldogs and they would net the game-winning goal with 1:22 left. Read more HERE...
PeeWee AA2: Alliance - 3, Arapahoe - 3: Alliance jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but couldn't keep the big and skilled Arapahoe Warriors at bay log enough, and a very competitive and exciting Friendship game ended in a tie Saturday morning in Valley Ranch. The Bulldogs scrambled in and around the Arapahoe net the first 2 periods, and were rewarded with goals of the hard working variety. In the final period, the Warriors turned up the heat and scrambled themselves to earn the tie late in the game.
Bantam AA: Alliance 2, Colo.Rampage 0: The Bulldog defense and goaltending continued where they left off earlier in the day, and 2 goals were more than enough for Alliance to beat the Colorado Rampage in Game 2 of the Texas Star Winter Classic Tournament in Farmers Branch Saturday night. After a scoreless 1st period, the Bulldog penalty killers struck again for their 2nd shorthanded tally of the day and first of the game to take a 1-0 lead at the 9:32 mark of the 2nd period. Alliance added an insurance goal in the 3rd to seal the win and a 2-0 tournament record.
Bantam AA: Alliance 2, KC Outlaws 1: The Bulldogs finished off a comeback win with the game winner coming with only 23 seconds remaining, as they defeated the Kansas City Outlaws in Game 1 of the Texas Star Winter Classic Tournament in Plano Saturday morning. The Outlaws took a 1-0 lead late in the opening period with a power play tally, and it looked like they might make that stand up for the win, as the two teams battled into the 3rd period with the score still 1-0 Kansas City. Read more HERE...
Midget Minor AA: Alliance 6, Seattle - 1: Alliance made it 2 in a row, as they defeated the Seattle Admirals in Game #3 of the Las Vegas 2006 Tournament Saturday evening. The Bulldogs now control their own destiny, and can earn a berth in the finals with a convincing win on Sunday morning against the Crystal Lake Leafs.
Midget Minor AA: Alliance 3, Calif. Wave - 0: Alliance jumped into the win column of the Las Vegas 2006 Tournament Saturday morning with a solid shutout victory over the California Wave in their second game of the tournament. The game was similar to the last time these 2 teams met, a 4-1 Bulldog win in the 34th Annual Mile High Thanksgiving Holiday Tournament in Littleton, Colorado.
Midget Minor AAA: Alliance - 2, Ice Jets '89 - 1: In a re-match of their tie last week in Dallas, it was more of the same between these 2 rivals, but the Bulldogs pulled this one out late to beat the Ice Jets '89 in Game 2 of the Colorado Outlaws Shootout in Denver on Saturday afternoon. The first period was scoreless, but not uneventful, as an Alliance player took a 5-minute major and a game misconduct, putting the Bulldogs down a man for a period of time. Alliance would kill that off, and the 1st period ended 0-0. Read more HERE...
MLK Weekend + 7 Teams = 25 or More Games...

Dogs Slowed on Day 2 of Weekend...
Squirt A: Alliance 3, Aeros South - 3: After a month long layoff from game action, the Bulldogs were expected to come out rusty...but they came out on fire and scored on the first offensive rush in this NTXHL contest against the Houston Aeros South in Valley Ranch. Alliance aggressively cycled the puck behind the Aeros goalie, then the right wing faked a wrap around and passed across the crease to the center for a sweet one timer and a 1-0 lead at 12:08. Read more HERE...
PeeWee AA2: LS Wolves - 4, Alliance - 1: Alliance fell behind early in the game 4-0, but continued to play hard before falling to the LS Wolves in this NTXHL contest early Sunday morning in Valley Ranch. More to come later...
Bantam AAA: TPH Thunder - 3, Alliance 1: Playing the same team for the 3rd straight time and 7th time of the season can prove to get old, but the TPH Thunder didn't seem to mind, as they handed the Bulldogs their first loss in 7 head-to-head match-ups and go home with a series ending win in Game #3 of their 3-game series Sunday morning at Valley Ranch. The Thunder came to play early and controlled the tempo from the outset, out-shooting the Bulldogs 7 to 2 in the opening frame and carrying a 1-0 lead into the 2nd period. Read more HERE...
Midget Minor AAA: Alliance 2, Ice Jets '89AAA - 2: Nothing was settled in this much anticipated and long awaited game between these two rink rivals. While each team held a 1-goal lead for a period of time, neither could hold, and the game ended as it started, with the score even and both teams still looking toward the next meeting. It was a penalty-filled contest (what a surprise!), with 3 of the 4 total goals coming on the man advantage from the 17 power play chances doled out by the over-worked officiating crew. More to come later...

Alliance Starts Weekend Strong...
Squirt AA: Alliance - 9, Oklahoma City - 1: The Bulldogs came out of the Christmas and New Year holiday break flying, and the Blazers of Oklahoma City were the unfortunate victims, as Alliance scored early and often in cruising to a NTXHL win at Valley Ranch on Saturday. It was the Bulldogs' 3rd straight dominating league win, and they are 5-0-1 in their last 6 NTXHL games.
PeeWee AA1: Alliance 4, Tulsa - 4: Alliance came out firing, and took advantage of their energy to take an early 2-0 lead in the first period. They were not able to maintain the same level of play throughout, however, and the Tulsa Flames battled back to earn a tie in this NTXHL contest Saturday morning in Valley Ranch. Read more HERE...
Bantam AAA: Alliance 5, TPH Thunder - 1: The Bulldogs continued their winning ways, beating the TPH Thunder for the 5th straight time this season in Game #2 of their 3-game series Saturday afternoon at Valley Ranch. Bantam AAA: Alliance 7, TPH Thunder - 2: The Bulldogs jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first 8 minutes of the game, withstood a TPH Thunder recovery for the next 17 minutes, and then pulled away in the final period for a convincing win in Game #1 of their 3-game series Saturday morning at Valley Ranch. Alliance was all over the visitors from the southeast in the 1st period, out-shooting them by a 10 to 4 margin after one period of play. Read more HERE...
Midget Minor AA: Alliance 6, DJHA - 1: Alliance started slow, taking a 1-0 lead from the first period into the 2nd frame, then added 3 more in the 2nd and cruised to the NTXHL victory over DJHA Saturday night in Valley Ranch. The win earned the Bulldogs a small amount of payback for being handed their only league loss in their last meeting with the Penguins early last month. The win raised the Alliance league mark to 13-1-0, and they remain firmly planted in 1st Place.
Midget Major AA: Alliance 3, Austin - 1: The Bulldogs looked like they might never score in this tight NTXHL contest, but finally found the touch and enjoyed it, with all 3 goals coming in the 3rd period for a come from behind win over the Austin Roadrunners in Valley Ranch. After a scoreless opening frame, the Roadrunners found the back of the net first with a power play goal at 10:27 of the 2nd period to take what appeared to be a solid 1-0 lead. More to come later...
